While the actual heroes are trained at a gradual pace to meet the loaming demon horde threat, the protagonist is getting the spartan treatment by a crazed drill instructor healer who is hellbent on molding him into a unkillable monster healer. He is being battered to a pulp, tossed into the sky and left for dead in the middle of a hostile forest.Fun times, yes?The fantasy world has freed the caged SCP from the shackles of society to be the utter otaku dork her adventure starved heart always wanted. The humble hot guy isn’t so put together as he projects. And our dearest protagonist is being conditioned to meet the battle hardening process a soldier undertakes for their country. Together, they are going have to turn the tides of a hopeless war to come, and survive threats they have no idea are coming their way.This isekai adventure is a fun and comedic journey of a healer class character being redefined for the supporting role. Stay in the back of the fighting and provide support, yes, but there it quite a bit a healer can do in the process of performing in such a role. Save some lives and lay the smackdown on one’s opponents.It borderlines being a parody of the genre, possessing that Marvel cinema comedy that remains present throughout the show. It is funny and plot remains fairly serious in its tone concerning the threat at hand that the characters must face. I thought that may have been an anime studio flair to the franchise, but as it turns out, the light novels are fairly consistent with the content. Fun characters, particularly seeing a female otaku dorking out at every little fantasy element being played out, and is trying to live out every trope there is for a heroic heroine. And she has good chemistry with the protagonist.Overall, I like this anime. Since I haven’t heard of a second season at the time of his review, I’ve been enjoying the light novels to see what happens next to this patch of characters. Very happy to have added this anime to my collection.

Most of the central characters, including some from the magical land, undergo career changes or lifestyle selections. Each has their reasons for doing so. Characters are flushed out. Humor is timely. The amount of peril is appropriate. Not much in the way of gratuitous fan service.
