Tendak 4K HDMI Switch, 5 Port HDMI Switcher with L/R Optical Toslink Audio Extractor + Remote Control Support 4K@30Hz 3D ARC

I bought this to allow me to output the TV audio to my stereo system and to give me a few more HDMI inputs, my tv is lacking in that department.The switch has 5 HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, as well as giving you an analog audio line output and an optical digital Toslink audio output.The supplied remote control allows you to select the HDMI inputs as well as giving buttons for 5.1 audio, 2.0 audio and bypass audio and power on off, it also has buttons for ARC and SPDIF/Analog enable, these are all quite useful controls for those of us that like to fiddle about with different equipment configurations as i do.I am using it with the analog audio outputs sending sound to my Sonos system which means i can also get tv audio all around the house, great for doing housework but not missing Jeremy Kyle acting like, well y’know.My TV is 4K, my HDMI inputs are a mix of 1080P and 4K resolution and all of them look great, there are no scaling operations carried out by this switch but the image quality remains as clean and rich as the original input signal.

Like me, most of people now have a lot of HDMI products connected to your TV. I wanted to buy a piece of technology which I can connect all of my consoles to so it will be easier to organise from just one box. This product just does exactly that. It is compact and takes in 5 connections and out put it into one HDMI output for your TV. When you switch between the consoles that you have, you just need to use its simple remote to change to the desired HDMI input. Installation was a breeze and no brainer. Quality and sound of the output is exactly as the same as if you connect it directly to your consoles. This product makes organising your living room consoles much more efficient. And for such a cheap price, it is literally a steal.

Having purchased a new 4K Samsung TV, I was a bit disgusted at the lack of HDMI connectors - only two! I needed a splitter and this Tendak 5 to 1 filled the bill. I must say I wass a bit reticent about the purchase, having had previous bad experience with HDMI splitters. I bit the bullet and pressed the button.The unit itself is as expected, neat and unobtrusive. The remote works ok and is a good cat's toy! I especially liked the facility to access audio (I have an old fashioned Hi-Fi system) and the RCA connectors. I found the display good and easy to see at a distance. The HDMI receptacles seemed of good quality and worked positively, locating cable connectors firmly - I liked that! I was relieved to see a separate power supply, so the box didn't rely on cable-borne power.We have all experienced the current kind of HDMI cables which promise 8K and so on, but are woefully inadequate for the job. I had a collection of such offerings, gathered over the years and which occasioned infrequent failures and re-plugging. What I needed was decent connectors and a certified cable system, without having to pay over the odds for professional kit. Luckily Amazon do have some of them, so I replaced ALL of my HDMI cables with certified items. You can tell the difference when you plug them in - firm and positive. So far, so good....I powered the Tendak box and set it up to accomodate all of my many pieces of kit. What can I say? It works and works well. There is a delay when switching to a new input, but that's fine by me. The quality is excellent and my grandson's xbox no longer complains of inadequate cable bandwidth at 4K, neither does the PC at 2K. Even WoW looks good now.....I've given this unit a good soak test over several weeks now, and it has functioned perfectly. I know not what its long-term reliability and stability is, but we shall see. Until then I can recommend this unit, and I am heartily glad for these certified HDMI cables. Now that everything is working beautifully, I am NOT touching a thing!

Bought this item to solve the common issue of extracting surround sound from multiple HMDI sources to a single surround sound system via TOSLink. This item worked great for about an hour, then what I can only imagine were the poor quality electronics caused it to stop sending any video output to the TV - just flashes here and there. tried various HDMI cables but nothing worked. Poor quality, avoid at all costs.

Ok. I bought this to add to my old 25 year old home theatre system. It’s a great looking bit of tech. So my findings were:Apple TV - 5.1 passthrough with all the apps so good start, Netflix, Amazon, AppleTV etc.Blu-Ray. No 5.1 passthrough for discs only pro logic. However I thought it might have been my player so I connected this directly to my amp and connected the HDMI cable to another port in my TV and Dolby and DTS were present. And yes I checked my settings as it suggested you must have Bitstream checked which it was.PlayStation 4 - 5.1 passthrough for games so a plus there but no 5.1 for Blu-Ray/DVDs only pro logic. Again checked settings etc.The solution.This unit doesn’t have a EDID that controls the passthrough. So if you’re in the market for all 3 components to work then maybe this isn't for you. AppleTV is fine if it’s just streaming you want. But I like the options of blurays and DVDS.The ultimate answer is to go down the AV Receiver route but you’re looking at more money and space.But the unit is nice. Remote a bit small though.

Of course, I have old kit, TV, Amp, Freeview, Sky, DVD etc., with lots of HDMI cables etc.,I needed something to stitch them together to enable all of the units to share the amp and TV (since I can't easily link TV to amp).This unit allows me to do this. The quality of the output is sufficient for me, I nor my kit is good enough to notice if there is drop-off or signal loss, it does what I needed it for.
