Really interesting gothic literature
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein follows Robert Walton, who relates to his sister Margaret Saville, in letters, a story told by his new friend Victor Frankenstein. Victor essentially explains how he created a monster, let the monster loose, the monster was continuously rejected and ended up going on a killing spree as revenge for being created. I didn’t really have a favourite character, but my least favourite character was Victor because he rarely takes responsibility for creating something in the first place, especially not something that ended up murdering multiple people. I recommend this book because it’s a really interesting piece of gothic literature. It’s especially interesting thinking about the role of women in this story; Walton writing letters to his sister, Victor marrying his more than sister, Victor creating life without the help of a woman, the monster craving a female companion, the death of Caroline, Justine, and Elizabeth. ‘Little happiness remains for us on earth; yet all that I may one day enjoy is centred in you. Chase away your idle fears; to you alone do I consecrate my life, and my endeavours for contentment.’

Missing Ending !
I bought this for my daughter studying A level English Literature.I read reviews of various editions of this book, many of which have shrunken text. The text on this is perfect. The only issue which drove my daughter to anger, is the end is significantly missing. Her teacher pointed out what was wrong. Now had to buy the Penguin version where he is looking in a pond.

Do not buy this copy of Frankenstein: End Chapters Sold Separately.
Do not buy this copy of Frankenstein: End Chapters Sold Separately. The cover and inside pages state “Frankenstein: the original text”.From this, I inferred that it might contain “the original text”.I inferred wrongly. The copy describes the differences between various versions, but fails to mention that in no version of Frankenstein does the novel end before Victor dies.I can only assume that the publisher decided to save money by printing less pages, because ending the novel at this point makes no sense.I am a literature student and I unknowingly relied on your copy for months, while writing my exam coursework. I will now have to read the entire text again, to check for other missing chapters. I will have to reread the ending, which you neglected to print. I will have to rewrite my entire essay.I did not imagine for a moment that the first book that comes up when searching “Frankenstein 1818 original text” would be so shamelessly misleading. You have caused me absolutely unnecessary stress and frustration, Reader’s Library Classics.
