Classroom Must Have
This is a must have for any teacher who wants their kiddos to be able to see and track the passing of time. The largest option is amazing to put on the board, you can see it clearly from all angles. The alarm is very loud and my kids are able to hear it among their chatter and other classroom noises. It is sturdy and built to last. The magnets are amazing and incredibly strong.

Great quality (2 yrs in)
The perfect visual timer. We have had this for 2 years now, using it every day with our ADHD child. It's easy to turn, the 3 year old figured it out. It has a magnet and legs so you can move it around the house so easily. It has a beep or no beep mode as well. Love it.

Great in the classroom
I work as a K-12 substitute, and I bought it to use in elementary schools. I was skeptical when I took it with me to a high school, but it was so effective even at helping teenagers to manage their time. It worked just as well with freshmen as it did with seniors. The alarm isn't obnoxious either. I'm taking this timer with me on EVERY assignment!

This is great for adults too.
This was ordered because my mom, who is bed bound, gives the caretakers a hard time when they try to bathe her or administer meds. She has become adept at stalling when there's something she doesn't want to do. My sister came up with the idea to use a visual timer instead of a timer on someone's watch. The reason is because she can see the timer counting down and also, she can't accuse someone of making the time shorter that what it actually is. The timer is pretty much ready to go straight out of the box. It came with batteries so that's a plus. Although it is far larger than I thought it would be, we find it works will with her diminished vision. It's super easy to use. Just move the black knob in the center to indicate how much time you want on the clock. That's it! Turn the handle and let it go and it will start counting down the time.

Great Visual Timer!
My students are always wondering when class is going to be over, which can be disruptive. I recently ordered this clock and they love it! If I forget to start it at the beginning of class they remember! It takes 2 double AA batteries and is very easy to use. When the time is up a quick alarm goes off. My students can be a little sensitive and the volume of the timer does not bother them. It only goes off for maybe 5 seconds and then stops on its own.I Gave it 4 stars only because it is a little too heavy for the magnets. I put other magnets under it and now it is staying put!Highly recommend!

3rd Timer in 15+ Years!
I bought my first version of this timer when I was in my first or second year of teaching. It lasted for over 5 years. I don't think there was anything wrong with the timer, it's my fault for dropping it! I had to buy a second one which also lasted over 5 years. This time I used it with my daughter at home since I left the classroom. She has an excellent concept of time now and she's only 3 and a half -- I attribute that to this timer! I finally bought this one, my third, and it was worth every penny. The older versions were easy enough to use. This one is even easier and more user-friendly, which I didn't know was possible. You can hang it up on the wall, you can adjust the feet on the back to make it stand and! this version has magnets on the back!I've spent well over $100 buying 3 of these timers. When this one has to be replaced in another, hopefully 10 years!, I will happily spend the money.

After a few weeks of use it no longer works reliably
Although I like the advertised features of this timer (e.g. silence-able alarm, fold-out legs, and built-in magnets), unfortunately, the mechanism inside is not reliable. Mine stopped working reliably after a couple months of use. In case it's helpful to others, I've taken mine apart and posted some photos to show how it works inside.Basically, there's a stepper that activates once per second and drives a train of gears. The final gear (underneath the white plastic assembly) is linked to the output shaft via a friction clutch / spring. That's what allows the knob to be turned from the outside without damaging the internal mechanism. (There's also a mechanical stop/catch that should help prevent turning the knob below zero.) However, it seems that one has to be extremely gentle when turning the knob to actually avoid damaging the internal mechanism. Perhaps that's because if the friction clutch were loosened it wouldn't be strong enough to turn the knob & wheel assembly.Other notes:* The 2 AA batteries are wired in parallel and the internal module (HD-1688 Sheng Bang -- similar to the one shown here: http://www.shengbang.com/quartz4-show-487.html) has a holder for a single AA battery. This suggests to me that if you try running it with a single AA cell instead it will stop once the battery is partly drained. For fun, I tested with a series configuration instead (using a up to 4VDC from an external power supply, actually) and found that the ticking seemed to continue just fine, only the beeper was too loud. So if you think the problem is due to not having enough torque to turn the wheel feel free to try re-wiring the batteries to be in series, but that probably won't fix the problem.* It took me a little while to figure out how to get the knob off. There is an outer cover piece that can be removed, which reveals a screw inside that holds it to the module inside.* To open the clock, remove the 6 screws on the back side. 2 are obvious, 2 are under the feet, and 2 are under the magnets.* I gave this product a low "easy to use" rating because it is not easy to use **without breaking**

No ticking noises!!!
This timer is perfect for teachers! You just set it to the time you want - no need to go past it and then back again like other timers- and you can choose to have it beep when it’s done or not. I have the alarm option on, and it beeps 4x, then stops. No need to run over to it to turn it off if I’m on the other side of the classroom. I love it! It also doesn’t “tick” like other timers I tried. It’s a silent, visual timer (until the beeps at the end, which is optional), which is exactly what I wanted for our center rotations. Great, steady magnets, too! Love it!!!
