The strength of Grudem's ST is that it attempts to give the various views of contentious issues. The difference is that Grudem tries to give a fair airing to views that contradict his own (unlike most other SEs). This makes it an excellent resource for loving and careful shepherding as you can see all sides of a matter explained gently before you respond to it.

What an amazing book. It not only talks about Biblical doctrines, but delves into them in great detail and suggests application for life. A fantastic textbook for my studies.

Excellent book.

Great Theological book for any Christian library, weather you are studying in seminary or on your own personal journey through the Scriptures. This book provides you with a wide range of theological topics (from doctrine of God to doctrine of the End Times). There's lots of references mention in this version, so if you require further research into any topic Grudem and his team made sure its clearly stated in each chapter...nice... The read is very pleasant, though some topics may challenge your biblical perspective...I highly recommend...

This is a dreadful book along with most Evangelical books on theology it is based on a number of false premises1) That the Bible is the inerrent word of God2) That all the events described in the Bible must be historical3) Wayne Gudren himself has come out in support of Donald Trump although this is not mentioned at all in this book but developed in his so called Christian EthicsThe problem with the Evangelical interpretation of the Bible is that it imposes a particular narrative on the Bible which is a collection of literature accumulated over 1000 to 1500 years. It assumes for example that the sole purpose of the Old Testament prophets was to predict the coming of Jesus Christ something I am sure the Jewish authors had no idea ofHowever most disturbingly of all is that Evangelical Christians by assuming that the Bible is fundamentally historical are forced to deny basic scientific facts. Let;'s take an obvious example if the order of events that happened when the world was created according to the account in genesis then plants were able to flourish on the earth before the sun and the stars were created. Irrespective of whether or not you accept the so called six days of creation as literally 24 hours or whether these are seen as epochs there is no way that you can accept this in the light of what science has provenNeedless to say he goes on to claim that so called intelligent design has disproven the well established facts of evolution however outside the narrow circles in which this person moves this is just ludicrous, It was proven beyond all reasonable doubt in the Kitzmiller Dover case in 2004 that intelligent design is not scienceWayne Gudren claims that if science cannot accomodate it self to the so called Biblical perspective he endorses then the Biblical perspective is true and the scientific one is incorrect. Certainly according to him no scientist who accepts the view that science works by methodological naturalism ie looks for natural causes for natural phenomenon instead of supernaturalistic ones can be both a scientist and a ChristianThus excluding most scientists from being Christians in the narrow minded view of Christianity that Wayne Gudren expouses.Christians who believe in the ideals set forward by Jesus and his Apostles should not be forced into what amounts to blackmail either be a Christian or a scientist which the fundamentalist views of the likes of Gudren would have us believe in.None of this would matter if Gudren was just a crank but unfortunately his views are influential in many Christian churches in America and thus if allowed to propagate will only hasten a new dark age
