For any of you that had the original and had to take out a second mortgage out to afford all the batteries it ate, this will be the upgrade for you. Screen is much better, built in rechargeable battery pack and it’s lighter. The battery also lasts ages once charged! Safe shutdown switch now situated in the top and all the scripts you need are on the retroflag website.I would recommend using a pi zero 2 though, although the zero 1 works, the 2 is just a lot better better with the quad core processor.Dont worry about a pre built image just download recalbox and make your own. They have an image specifically for this case.Great little device and highly recommended for a nostalgia fix :-)

I purchased this for my 32 year old son.He was feeling nostalgic for his childhood.He said it is fantastic and has played many games on it.It arrived promptly and fully assembled.

Fantastic case and worked well however I had a small issue and needed to return mine however he company were very accommodating. I'll defintiyl buy another to replace it.

Lovely handheld kit. The upgraded screen and rechargable battery have revitalized my handheld gaming and i take this with me everywhere. The Gpi Case 1 would chug through AA batteries in an hour, even playing simple games from GB, GBC or GBA libraries. The new handheld can go for like 4 to 5 hours at a time and only takes a few hours to recharge. The screen is brighter and clearer, the sound is louder and less muffled. Just wish more OS images would ciome out for this combo, bored of recalbox and want batocera.

One of the best retro cases I've ever used and is an amazing replica of the original Gameboy. Very easy to get things up and running and all the buttons are nice and clicky, though the dpad is very squishy and doesn't feel nice to use - a mod exists to fix this however if you prefer a more clicky dpad.The Pi Zero is just a little bit too underpowered though, even to run Super Nintendo games; there's noticeable stutter even when you overclock the CPU. If they altered the design and used one of the more powerful Pi's, emulation could be perfect. I also seemed to receive a DOA SD card that refused to flash properly and one of the headers on the Zero was loose which I eventually had to return.There's better options out there like the RG351V which is a little bit more expensive but has a much more capable chipset, better placed shoulder buttons, rechargeable battery and a higher resolution screen. You won't find a better Gameboy replica than the GPi case on the market though.
