HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 (5TW13AA#ABA)

My laptop does not have USB thunderbolt so I needed to purchase a docking station to connect 2 monitors. At first I was disappointed that I needed to purchase something additional, but actually this is much better. Instead of connecting/disconnecting multiple cables each time I want to take my laptop away from my desk I only need to disconnect the docking station. I have 2 monitors, USB receiver for wireless mouse and KB, and speakers connected. Plug and play, everything immediately detected. Plenty of USB ports to connect external drive, phone cable, etc. The only thing that would make it better would be 2 HDMI ports vs 1 HDMI and 2 display ports.

I had originally given this product a 5 start review. It worked well when I first hooked it up and was just doing normal stuff on my MacBook over the weekend. However, when I began using it for work which includes heavy duty spreadsheets and extensive Webex and webexTeams video calls, it began failing to keep my computer charged up. I began of course doing some research. I have since discovered that the product number on the item that shipped does NOT match the product number listed. The product number showing on Amazon is 5TW13AA#ABA. This product number matched the HP dock that I have at my work office so i thought it would work fine. However, after the charging problems emerged I found on the bottom of the device I bought here that the product number was 5TW13UT#ABA. This product has a max wattage of 75 watts, where as the product number listed has a max wattage output of 100 watts which keeps my MacBook Air charged just fine. therefore I’ve sent this back and am now leery of ordering again for fear I will jsut get the exact same product. The seller needs to update their product listing and be precise.UPDATE - The seller contacted me and sent a replacement product which is working perfectly, I can now recommend this without hesitation. Also excellent customer service from the seller. You can order from them with confidence

Finally a docking station that works with my computer! I purchased a BRAND NEW HP laptop directly from HP, along with a docking station. It was not compatible. I purchased a second one from Best Buy (different brand). It was not compatible. I contacted HP to find out which docking station is compatible and after 5 days of frustration, they came up empty handed and told me to research it on my own. It was a frustrating experience, but through it, I learned that the USB C on my new computer does not work as an output. This docking station has a USB adapter, which works with my computer. It also has a power button, which I was also looking for. I like to keep my laptop docked the old fashioned way in my home office and just want to press the power on button rather than move everything around to open the laptop and power it on. (I have already broken one HDMI cord by doing that). So this works. I plugged it in, and it worked immediately. I didn't need to install any drivers or do anything other than connect all of my cords. Finally! Not sure why it took so much work for something so simple.

If you were deciding on buying a docking station for you Gaming laptop, look away from this one and go with the versions with Thunderbolt, those are 40GB/s. or, look at eGPU/s. This Dock is rated at 5GB/s through USB/C and if you try to use it while gaming, the input/output lag will will cost you the game.BUT, if your were needing it for multi screen so you can multitask, its great! It has plenty I/O for me, runs everything I need through one cable!Update: The cord on the dock malfunctions two months into using it daily, contacted HP support, and they sent out a whole new cord! Honestly, I'm happy with this G2 Dock. Will buy again from this seller, Great quality!

The Dock worked great for the first 3 months however randomly the monitors stopped working when connected through USB-C. The regular USB ports still work (keyboard, mouse, headset) however the screens are not receiving a signal. When this just started, they would blink, then turn off for an hour, and now they don't work at all. Would not recommend this model if you're using for extended displays.

I have noticed that this docking port I am using works well most of the time, but sometimes it fails to recognize my laptop. I am uncertain whether the issue is with the docking port itself or with my computer.Overall, I am content with my purchase.

Received this item as ordered but, unfortunately I will be returning it. I didn’t realize the power cord, HDMI cords, etc., were not included. This my fault for not fully understanding what I ordered. So, I will be returning the item and ordering the complete kit from HP directly.

I like everything about this item. It worked perfectly as a docking hub for my HP laptop.
