It replaces a worn out fitting
This fitting (in my case) screws into the hand held portion of my cabinet sand blaster and the abrasive had worn the original far enough that there were pin hole leaks. I am back in business now:) Note, I ordered two so when this fitting wears out I will be ready to replace it.

works great
I use the barbed fitting to extend my oil dain on riding mower engines. i take out the 3/8" npt plug screw in he fitting add a 10" peice of 1/2" id hose to it. take anuther barbed fitting put it on the other end of the hose with a cap, and wow i can drain my oil without gettig it all over the mower frame.Wireman Bob

As far as fitting purchases on Amazon go...surprisingly exactly as advertised
After some back and forth with various amazon purchases, this fitting is exactly as advertised. 1/2" barb with a 3/8 male NTP. Worked great for my project.
