The converter looked like it was well made. It fit well and came with all the hardware necessary, but within a day the check engine light returned with the same PO420 code. It actually came back faster than with the original converter. I performed a couple tests and found the converter temperature was the same front to back, a good indicator that the converter was not working. Pre and post cat O2 sensors had near identical readings, also indicating the converter was not functioning. I contacted the company, explained the issue and the diagnostic approach and was given a full refund. I will opt for a more expensive converter. I generally don't buy the least expensive of anything. The catalyst within the converter promotes a chemical reaction which oxidizes the HC and CO present in the exhaust gas. This reaction converts them into harmless water vapor and Carbon Dioxide. The catalyst also reduces NOx, converting it to Nitrogen. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors this process using Bank 1 HO2S #2. Bank 1 HO2S #2, located in the exhaust stream past the three-way catalytic converter, produces an output signal which indicates the oxygen storage capacity of the catalyst. This determines the catalysts ability to convert exhaust emissions effectively. If the catalyst is functioning correctly, the Bank 1 HO2S #2 signal will be far less active than that produced by Bank 1 HO2S #1.

The catalytic converter was great and have no complaints with it. The gasket that came with it however was too big and we could not make it work. I had to have my local auto parts store order one and my car had to sit on the racks for an extra day while we waited for a new gasket. A 2 hour job turned into a 2 day job.
