In 1974, two members of the San Diego Track Club conceived of an idea meant to be little more than a fun, yet challenging break from the tedium of traditional training. They called it a Triathlon. Today, Triathlon has evolved from its rudimentary beginnings in Mission Bay into an endurance event of immense international appeal. Deeply embedded in the public consciousness, Triathlon is now poised to debut as the inaugural event of the 2000 Summer Olympic games in Sydney, Australia. What is it about the sport and its competitors that intrigue so many people worldwide? Triathlon: Through the Eyes of the Elite tells the dramatic and compelling stories that revolve around the young sport of Triathlon. From an in-depth and truly unique perspective, we share both the historical documentation and evolution of the sport as well as the lifestyle, perseverance and passion of the professional triathlete. Our film is essentially a behind the scenes look at the sport of Triathlon with the Olympics serving as the dramatic backdrop.

Three Stars
Okay pretty much sums it up. Very dated, however was interesting nonetheless.

It's an older video
Was an okay video, but the age of the video is old, therefore the graphics and all of the filmography is dated. Plus, there are many newer video segments that are more relevant for today's competitors.

Excellent view into the mindset of elite Triathletes
An excellent view of the world of elite Triathletes and great background for the 2000 Olympic debut of Triathlon. The focus of the documentary is mainly Wes Hobson in his build up for the 2000 USA Olympic Triathlon Trials. Much of the rest of the DVD covers Olympic hopefuls who train at the USA Olympic Training Center. There are plenty of one on one interviews where you get to see the quirky side of the athletes. On the negative side I felt that the editing put a "whiney" spin on Wes.The video spans about a 4 month period in 2000, interviewing the athletes on their home training grounds as well as at different international races throughout the season. No significant coverage of the races unfortunately. I enjoyed the video but can no longer watch it after having seen it about 50 times while riding my indoor trainer.
