3115 AC Voltage Sensor

I've used this exact Santronics model 3115 every day working as an electrician for the last 3.5 years. I keep a similar tester made by Fluke as a secondary. Although the Fluke is very good and is indispensable to me for some of its features, I generally prefer the Santronics because it is simpler and faster to use, and has been every bit as effective and reliable as the Fluke. This tester has no external switches or controls and they are always "on", ready to use, which I've found to be handier most of the time compared to other more feature-laden testers. The only downside is the plastic seems somewhat brittle, meaning the pocket clips snap off fairly easily, and there is less of a chance of it surviving a fall from a >= 6ft ladder compared to the Fluke models. That said, they still hold up well, surviving 6ft ladder falls over 90% of the time. I've had roughly a dozen of these by now, and I've always loaned out, lost, or broken them before the batteries fail, so I do not know the max battery life. I would say the longest I've had one for is 6 months, original batteries still going strong, before losing it somehow. I highly recommend this model to anyone wanting an excellent basic non-contact tester.
