We used this on out food truck's water lines
We used this on out food truck's water lines. They are 1/2" lines so we just ran this cable straight down each line, then wrapped it in foam and ziptied it all. So far its been working great - the only issues we've seen is that the brass LPD (low point drain) freezes because there really isn't a way to wrap an end in heating tape. So for those we just have to wrap in a small heat blanket (like what you'd put on your shoulder).Overall we're happy with the results - our only complaint would be the price - I think it's a bit on the expensive side like everything else these days.Recommended!

Saved the day and my marriage
Bought this as my water supply line to my house is laying above ground due to a remodel, in December:( Wrapped it in foam insulation with this tape inside. Works well. Cycles on and off as temperature dictates. Keeps the water line from freezing in 20 degree temps. Also, I threw the whole thing in the freezer for a bit then plugged it in to verify it was working before install. Takes awhile to install correctly.

Flexibility
The heat cord is a little stiff for wrapping pipe. It does warm well and works well. I like it for wrapping long water pipe. Good quality.

we use this to keep the pool lines from freezing
We wrap then zip-tie this heat tape to our pool PVC pipes that stick up near the pool equipment. It keeps the water warm and flowing through the pipes in bad (aka winter) weather. Then, in the spring, we cut the zip ties and store the heat tape for the next year.

Works great, very happy.
I used this all winter on a rual water well. The temperature dipped well below zero degrees (F). I did not have any problems with the water freezing.

Really helpful for exposed waterpipe
I got this to help out a neighbor who constantly has issues with frozen water pipes. The way their water is set up, the water pipe comes up from a well and the initial pipe is well underground (as it should be), so they never have an issue there. However, after about 20', the pipe takes a sudden upwards turn and the last 25' i barely 4 inches underground. That is not deep enough, and it always freezes any time the temperature gets slightly below freezing.I purchased this with the thought that if it doesn't work, I will just put it in my garage in case I ever need it. But I unburied the water pipe that was near the surface, put this heat tape on it the entire distance, and wrapped it all in pipe insulation. That pipe has not frozen once since I did this, and all they have to do is remember to plug it in when it's going to be cold, and unplug it when it warms up. They have health issues and I hated to see them struggle to have water all the time, so this is truly fantastic for them. When spring comes I will bury the pipe correctly for them, but until then, this water heat tape has truly helped so much. Great product!

Not recommended for concrete, but it's working! ;)
Works great! So, I didn't follow instructions, and buried this into about 2" of concrete on a front step. They don't support this application, but it seems to work great, automatically turns on when cold, and hasn't cracked the step (yet?!?)! Once warm, the current draw is very low, I'm sure that'll increase over the winter but I'm at 0.5kwh for all of October to power the front step. A neighbor used a roof cable for the same application, this is a bit fancier being self regulating (and a bit more expensive). A 60' cable was a bit short for my application, but it should be fine.. and could have been improved by planning the cable pattern a bit better.

You MUST plug it into a GFCI outlet or GFCI extension cord for it to work
Terrific product. The instructions urge people to use GFCI outlets with the heat line, they do not say that the heat line will not work unless it's plugged into a GFCI outlet. When I tested it in my house before installing, I plugged it into a GFCI. Worked great. Then I installed it in a regular outlet and didn't realize it wasn't working until my pex pipes froze. The light on the plug was illuminated, but it wasn't heating. After I thawed the pipes out, I plugged the heat line into a GFCI extension cord and voila, it worked amazingly and I have not had a problem since. Even in -20 weather.I just wish the instructions had added that one bit of information. It would have saved me a lot of time and headache.

It works great!
This is an amazing product! I am in an RV and I had a frozen sewer hose which I thought was good to -40 but it's good for not being crushed to -40. Fortunately we had a good thaw and we were able to first wrap it with aluminum foil (so the heat is conducted throughout) and then wrap it with the heat tape then just for good measure wrapped it in the aluminum bubble wrap ( which we had done originally and we still froze FYI). Although we haven't had the extreme low temperatures of -45 due to the polar vortex, we still got into -25 and 30s without having a frozen sewer line. Wish I had known about this in the beginning but then like I said I thought the sewer hose was -40.

No headline
I cannot give five stars yet as it is summer and I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Did test it in my fridge freezer and it does turn on with exposure to cold. I am hopeful the temp sensor will always work reliably (i.e. without failure). One thing I wish the tape had was a test button to bypass the temp sensor just so one could check continuity occasionally. Also a pilot light on it to illuminate when it is turned on and drawing power would be useful

Rugged and economical.
Surface water froze and failed to drain to my footing weeping tiles due to very cold weather, so heavy rain, and snowmelt water reached the top of my basement wall and overflowed inside. I laid the heating cable on the ground leading to the drain and so far, it has kept the drain working and my basement dry. I have it on a switched GFI outlet and only turn it on when the outside temperature is above or near freezing. I am really pleased with this heating cable.
