The Happy Book: Positive Self Care Journal and Activity Book for Women

Great for teens and adults.
I received The Happy Book as a gift, and a few months later, bought one for each of my little sisters, age 14 - so of course I think this is great for adults as well as teens, depending on their maturity level (and also maybe how often they "get out" - many questions involve social outings and events, pasting ticket stubs, spending $10 on something that makes you happy and pasting the receipt in the book, etc).A person over a certain age (16? 18? 20?) may feel silly at first - there are some ridiculous prompts and it might feel childish at first, but as you keep going and make it "yours", it's highly enjoyable and it's so easy to laugh at some of the items in the book. Most of the questions are very open-ended and would work for any age (What would your idol do? Favorite summer? How would you cheer up a heartbroken friend? Ideal Sunday? Ideal sundae?). One of the silliest pages is a "story building page" that asks you to make up a story and uses examples like "you go to the grocery store only to find that the food has all been replaced with toasters" - okay, that's incredibly ridiculous but you have to laugh at it. If you're looking for a more serious Happy Book, there are many others that ask one "happy" question per day.To gift to teenagers: Any teenager would love to fill out this book because there are no rules. You can doodle, scribble, change your mind, let others write in your book (and even make up rules for doing so), add pictures... there are entire pages for doodling and more. There is even a page to paste/tape your favorite candy bar wrappers. Fun!Note: Page 120 is about "falling in love", first kisses, etc. Some parents might find that inappropriate depending on the age of the recipient.Random prompt examples: What is the nicest thing anyone has done for you? Make a list of names you like. Favorite smells? List some random acts of kindness. Draw your favorite type of fireworks. Write some happy quotes.Overall, it's cute and a great gift.

The Happy book
This was my 1st on line purchase made on Amazon with my elder daughter aged 10 years very keen on getting "The Happy Book" by Rachel Kempster as her x'mas gift from Santa. It was not available in Sri Lanka hence my option to go on line and chose Amazon which has been recommended to me as one of the best, reliable sites with great product offering and safety in respect of payment. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of going through the process on making the on line purchase and even more surprised when the book arrived to my door step much earlier than the estimated date of delivery. The updates too from Amazon on the order status was great. The icing on the cake was when my daughter said the book was just amazing, great reading and most of all meant exactly what the title says to keep her happy in life no matter what she goes through in her life. A very sincere and big thank you to Rachel for a great book which will for sure brighten up the lives of many kids around the world and keep them happy.

This book makes me smile. Fun writing prompts and tasks.
I love these types of books. I had the Wreck my Journal one and it was such a lot of fun. This one is filled with prompts to make you happy, make you giggle, even help your self esteem. There are prompts to do all sorts of writing tasks, all lighthearted and fun. I haven't gotten through the whole book yet but I am enjoying The Happy Book. It makes me happy and that's the point. I am a writer and often focus on grammar and context. With this book, I cam just play and sometimes, I just want to play! Fun book, not for those looking for serious writing prompts.

So much fun!
I've had the book for about a month and I've had fun filling out the pages and sharing it with friends and family. Its great for those of us who need an excuse to let our inner kid out once in a while but don't because its not appropriate or "cool". I forgot how much I loved stickers! I just let the cashier at the dollar store think I had a little niece I was buying them for.If I'd never used this book I wouldn't have been inspired to give my friend (who is going through a break up) a jar of hot pink play dough instead of the usual platitudes. This book would be a great gift for someone in a similar situation.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy
Today (11/19) is the wife's birthday and this is one of the items I ordered for her. She loves it-- as we speak, she's looking for the happiest/coolest sounding places (Carefree, AZ, Smileyburg, KS, What Cheer, IA, Hell, MI, etc) her favorite Shel Silverstein poem ("How Many, How Much" in her case), she wrote/drew her favorite people (I was one of 'em-- she called me Big Sexy ;-), she made a hand turkey, there's a page that tells you to play hooky from work for the day and post all your receipts of the day on that page.... Good, light-hearted stuff. She's sitting on the floor next to the bed right now/laughing. If you're semi-happy or will give it a chance/open your mind, you can't go wrong here.A GREAT CHOICE-- GLAD I GOT IT FOR HER.

Amazing Book
I've been in the hospital for four months and bought a bunch of these kind of activity books, like "wreck this journal" and the like, but this one keeps me optimistic and happy. I don't have to put in too much thought, and when friends come to visit they get to participate as well which I really like, because happiness is a gift. It keeps me from getting too depressed because it forces you to think about what you have to be grateful for. This is a great gift- maybe not for someone going through a hard time, that wouldn't be accepted very well, but definitely for someone who has time on their hands and may need a little pick me up.

Used But Good
I got this one used, and used it was-- I had to white out the previous scribbles in it, but that didnt take anything away from being able to use it and enjoy it. It IS a highly enjoyable book that you can customize and be happy with! You dont have to be an artist because this is YOUR book, you put in it what makes YOU happy, and that's good therapy when you're feeling like crap! I didnt want to put it dow, I wanted to keep adding happy things!

Great fun
Im not sure if this book is aimed at teenagers but I'm 38 and am having great fun with it! It certainly brightens my day when I make time to complete a page or two. It asks what things make you happy - which forces you to think about the good things in your life & it also gives you challenges of things that will make you laugh eg. Spend an hour playing with play-doh!This is a self help book with a big difference!

I love it. Loads of different things to do depending ...
Bought this for my (often too negative) 13 year old daughter. She loves it, I love it. Loads of different things to do depending on what takes your fancy, all easy & simple tasks so good for a quick 5 minute scribble at the end of the day before bed.
