UPDATE:10/31/18 - the replacement unit that was sent arrived today. Have to admit I prepared myself for a struggle, but to my surprise, this unit immediately linked to the computer and the tablet. This unit read 1D and 2D barcodes with no issue or programing needed. Works like a charm! the equipment itself is currently functioning properly and transmits the information quickly.Areas of needed improvement:The paper insert needs some improvement. The instructions indicate the need of an app on the smartphone or tablet to make the scanner work. <this is not true>The assingned name in the Bluetooth field needs to be specific so that when pairing with a tablet or phone the scanner easily identifiable. However the connection to the Bluetooth dongle (provided) did happen instantly when pairing with the desktop computer.OVERALL: all is well.The scanner works great fresh out of the box.10/29/18 the manufacturer reached out to me today and asked me try their product again. I agreed. They advised that welcome my feed back so that they can ensure that their product is working for all markets and end users. I will be updating this review once the scanner is received and share how it works.So i liked the read of the ad for this product, i liked the product once it arrived. All of the instructions on the folded piece of paper read like that a bad translation from another language. that's okay! the ad and the paper with the instructions say that you need to use an app. cant find the name of that app. so i searched and found NYEAR ASSIST. the problem is that the app is not 100% compatible with the American android system, as the google play store warned me. Sure enough the page with the programming codes would not load all of the programming codes.This scanner, did scan 2d (Qr) codes but it would not scan 1d (regular straight barcodes) barcodes. no matter the source of the barcode it would not scan. So i reached to NYEAR. they asked me to send them pictures of the barcodes. and offered no assistance in getting the settings to work proper.I even tried the amazon customer support which offers tech support and i explained everything in detail to them that i went through and the response sounds we will be issuing a refund and sending you a mailing label to return the product... and such here we are. I got a competitors which was unpacked and plugged in and working in less than 5 minutes.

This scanner has been the best so far that I have purchased on Amazon.I work as an I.T. Admin and a lot of times, I need to copy down serial numbers of various assets when i'm in the field. A majority of the time that asset is under a counter, in a dark and cramped wiring closet or other hard to reach location. So having my laptop or phone in my hand is often not an option. That being said, This wireless scanner is absolutely perfect for my use case. It handles most bar code formats effortlessly, though I have not been able to get PDF417 to scan at all. So if you plan to use this for scanning drivers licenses for age verification, you might want to look somewhere else. But this is really the only con of this product that I have. What makes this scanner great is the super fast Bluetooth pairing with my phone. Once its set up, all you do is wake the scanner by pressing the trigger and almost instantly it automatically pairs with my phone. Another thing I really like is the way it scans from nearly any surface. My computer screen, a piece of paper, tiny barcodes, large barcodes... It scans effortlessly. Most of the budget friendly scanners I have purchased have many moving parts that are traditionally found in older scanners. One drop from the top of a ladder and its done... This scanner doesn't seem to have many moving parts at all some how. I've dropped it several times with no issue so far.I would definitely recommend this scanner to anyone in the I.T. field, It's a huge time saver for me.

Bluetooth, reading, pairing are work fine. But reading speed is slightly slow. I mean when it read some code, it read fast but all output context loading is slow. This device is recognized as a virtual keyboard input device that replaces the keyboard input when connected to the Android system. Therefore, if you read in a language other than English, you will not get the output you want.

The scanner is worked perfectly fine but wired not wireless. When I try to use it with the Bluetooth USB it is so slow.The storage feature worked really good.Recommended if you want to use it wired not wireless

It's a good product. When it goes to sleep though, it's a little slow on the wake up and it scans multiple times or "remembers" what it just scanned. Other than that. great.

Good scanner ; wish it would stay connected longer before it went to sleep .. When connected Bluetooth it takes a minute .. The scanner is one of the better ones I’ve seen

Beware: scanner may work great but sometimes goes nuts and enters random keystrokes. Seems to be that this happens when the battery is low. Battery is only lasting a few hours now. This is a show stopper in a manufacturing environment.

Easy to use

Scanner works well. Had no issues connecting it to my laptop or phone.
