Easy install
The package arrived on time and was a little dented up but the contents were ok and all there. The instructions were a little confusing if you are like me and work better with pictures. There wasn’t a completed picture so It took me a couple of try’s to get the rope routed through it properly. It is hanging from a 12’ ceiling @ 6’ pulley width. There is plenty of rope to hang this high. Once I got the rope through the right way it operated very easily. The brake works great so it can’t get away from you. This thing is totally worth the money. Parts are legit. I used my own lag bolts because I wanted to grad a little more wood than 1"

Great Solution! Awesome Service!
This hoist does exactly what StoreYourBoard claims it will. It comes in a small box! and it's easy to assemble. The mounting brackets bolt directly to your 2 x 4 garage rafters, or other support member in your garage or shop. I received the product very quickly from the factory. In error, I thought they had left out a part of the assembly from their box, only to find it 'hiding in plain sight', the next day. Unfortunately, I reached out to the Company through the Amazon portal to tell them about missing a part before I found it. I quickly reached out to Company again to tell them I had the piece, but the few hours between emails, was long enough for the Company to put the part in the mail to me. That was quick response! I am using it to store a 16 ft canoe and it gives a 4 to 1 mechanical advantage. I will order another Hi-Lift for my other canoe!

The directions for assembly are lacking, but the equipment works well.
I use this to hang a light weight canoe in my garage and its very convenient and easy to use. However, the instructions for assembling it were horribly lacking though. If you buy this take a screen shot of the item and have it handy when you use their instructions. Key items such as the orientation of the mounting assemblies are only clear from that image. That said, it's been nice to have and it works well.

Cheap, poor instructions
This item is probably adequate for most of its intended uses, but it’s cheaply made and the instructions are poorly written and illustrated. The sheaves are plastic and axles are aluminum, meaning they are not durable, and may crack or bend with time—particularly if exposed to weather. The double-sheave pulley does not have a center divider, so if you pull the cord to one side or the other it is likely to jump sheaves (the brake may prevent this last concern). The carriage bolts appear to be 1/4”-20, but a standard nut doesn’t fit because the threads are poorly cut. The rope is a cheap poly, and mine was frayed when it arrived. The durability of the rope is suspect, and since the design depends on a stopper knot tied at each end (a foolish method, and one easily avoided with a simple modification), over time it presents a safety concern. Plus, the robe rubs through the brake which also raises concerns about wear and safety. The instructions are poorly written. There isn’t even a picture of the final assembly to show what you’re aiming for. It’s unclear which direction the ceiling mounted pulleys are intended to face, and whether it matters which of the two hanging pulleys are in front and which in back. The only part of this you can’t make yourself from standard hardware store parts is the “brake.” But this brake can only be used with a direct pull; if you want to re-direct the pull-cord over to a wall using another set of pulleys, it will defeat the use of the brake. So you’re stuck with a cord cutting diagonally across your space to wherever you mount the cleat. Now that I see how the pulleys sit and how the line runs, I’ll be making one of these from the hardware store with improvements. It will likely cost about 2x, but I’ll be getting higher quality parts and making a better more useful design.

Awesome customer support!
I originally bought this to lift my kayak but went a different route so it just sat in the garage a few months until I decided to use it to get my fishing cart out of the floor. When I went to install it I found I was missing one of the brackets that mounts to the ceiling. I was concerned that due to the length of time that had passed since I ordered it I would have trouble getting the missing part. After contacting Store Your Board they quickly sent me the replacement part without any trouble. The lift works great and is easy to install and customer service is top notch. I would change the lag bolts to something a little beefier if I was going to hang a kayak but other than that it's a great product that's easy to install and use,

Works ok, but overall unhappy
This does what it’s supposed to. I have it holding a 15’ canoe. It hoists fairly easily, but gets more difficult as you go up as the rope gets caught behind the boat. The brake system is nice as it holds itself as you hoist up. The rope is terrible after setting it up and testing a few hoists the rope is already fraying. I will replace it as in a drain the boat is going to fall on me. The instructions are also very bad. They should show a diagram of the whole system assembled. You have to make sure you mount the pulleys the right direction otherwise you will end up having to redo your installation. Overall, the system works, but I am not very happy with it.A few things that could be improved...1) Provide better assembly instructions. Particularly a diagram showing the whole system set up, orientation of pulleys, etc.2) Provide a better rope. I would pay more to have a good rope in the package rather than having to replace it myself.3) Add one additional pulley with a brake that can be mounted away from the boat so the rope isn’t rubbing on the boat as you pull it to the maximum height.

Easy to install pulley system
Watched a few videos on how to install. I ended up using a 2x4 to mount it on to the garage ceiling. Feels sturdy and I’m comfortable walking under it. Would recommend product to anyone looking to get their canoe out of the way.

Pretty easy to use
Great canoe storage. It takes a little time to install it (make sure the support straps are in the correct spots), but once it's up it is pretty easy to use. It is a pulley system with brakes and the two straps then secure to the wall. We are thankful to not have to leave our canoe outside.

Great Lift
We installed 2 Hi-Lifts in the garage to store our kayaks and still have easy access to them. The install was easy. We watched an online instructional tutorial which made things even a little easier. The lifts works beautifully. They are simple to use and all components seem to be of a good quality. Awesome value for the money.

The rope is flimsy and weak. Snapped right away. Hard to use.
The rope snapped right away. If I hadn't install it yet, I would return it. I hope the seller will send me a better rope to use.
