The Amazing Spiderman - The Spider Slayer
These Marvel Pocketbooks are great value for money and really well produced. My eight year old son is a great lover of comic books and really enjoyed this paperback sized book which includes many of his adventures. There are nine complete original comics included in this collection: Walk the Savage Land, The Beauty and the Beast, The Spider Slayer, Squash! Goes the Spider, Spidey Smashes Thru, Vengeance from Vietnam, Enter Dr Strange, The Birth of... The Gibbon and To Stalk a Spider. The material was published before in magazine form as The Amazing Spider Man (Vol 1) and, obviously, having the collection in a small book does reduce the artwork and the print. So, if you find it hard to read small print that may be a concern, although it did not seem to bother my son at all. There are many other titles in the series, featuring The Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Silver Sufer and The Incredible Hulk. At such a low price they would make an ideal stocking filler, especially as they contain the original artwork and stories. Great buys and highly recommended.

Great Price / Great collection.
Spider-Man is my absolute favourite COmic Character, so the opportunityto collect these stories in such a great format with great production values is too goodto pass up. Stories perhaps not the best from SPidey's history, but hugely entertaining nonetheless. And for the Price they cannot be beaten.Great

Panini have put out some wonderful little pocket books, which reprint older material (60s and 70s) from Marvel Comics. The issues that have been chosen are quite surprising - certainly not the standard selections - but for my money are ones I'm glad to see.The stories in this selection include, Spider-man in the Savage Land in a pastiche of King Kong with Gwen Stacy in the Fay Wray role, Jolly J Jonah Jameson's attack on Spider-man using Spiderslayer robots, Flash Thompson's dirty Vietnam war secret that comes back to haunt him (with guest star Doctor Strange) and the villainous Gibbon. Roy Thomas, Stan "the Man" Lee, and Gerry Conway provide the writing in the Mighty Marvel manner, so there's plenty of wisecracking and assiduous alliteration for your reading pleasure, true believer, while the art is the work of the fantastic Gil (incorrectly given a change of gender to Gill on the cover) Kane and Jazzy John Romita, who cemented the look of Peter Parker and his cast. It's grand stuff, full of derring do, web-swinging and angst as gasp! What if he loses Gwendy to his friend! And what's up with Harry Osborn? It's only little, and flimsy, but the pictures are well reproduced and the paper is sympathetic to the colouring, which is all once can ask! And for £4, you can't lose, can you?
