Gregory proving he was tops in taps!
The late Gregory Hines shows his consumate skill in this feast of authentic 'hoofing'. The plot recalls some of those old Warner Bros. plots. An ex-con is released from prison and has to decide between a life of lucrative crime or going straight. What makes the decision more difficult is that his original dance style is considered too good for Broadway. So, Hines has to make do with dancing in racy night-clubs. Highlight of the film is a 'cutting contest' between veteran 'tappers' including Harold Nicholas, Jimmy Slyde, Bunny Briggs, Steve Condos, Sandman Sims and the superb Sammy Davis. Suzzanne Douglas provides the love interest and watch out for 13-year-old Savion Glover as a hero-worshipper. His brief routine almost steals the show!

What a delight, such a great movie I cant think why I had never heard of it before. Sometimes a great comes along this is one of them. I want to buy it for all my friends. Wonderful dance scenes, all the old timers giving it all they got. I loved the old grumpy man, what a mover. Sammy brilliant as always. You simply must watch it.There is a tap dancer in all of us I believe especially after you have watch this movie.. So get prepared to dance the night away..Di

Loved this Film!
If you want to know the history of Tap, here is where to start, the film in itself is brilliant, the story line not so good, but do not be discouraged, with each of the older performers, Sammy Davis Jr, the Sandman etc.. it is great to see them in action though it is worth while looking up information pertaining to them yourselves. Many of the people in the film have now passed, however you will see a wonderful performance by the very young Savion Glover. Worth a watch? Yes!!!

Excellent film!
We were talking about older films and this came up as a topic of conversation. After finding it on here and purchasing it, I can honestly say that it's just as good as I remembered! I am a dance film fan though, street dance, step up, flashdance, dirty dancing etc... so if you like any of these then give Tap a go!

Awesome tap dance
The plot is not the best, but that's not the issue, because all of the classic tap dancers in this movie show their cup of coffee: They challenge that they ain't got no legs anymore! This film shows outstanding performance by Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis JR together with some other famous tap dancers.
