Not for beginners
The kit is great in what they include—the yarn, needle, etc. but the yarn is not really a beginner yarn since it is skinnier and made up of strands. The penguin which asks for changing yarn mid row is a feat that is not easy. The video is well done and written booklet very good with illustrations. Nice that video can be reviewed over and over.

Intermediate rather than beginner, but a bargain
As a crochet teacher, I'd would rate the skill level on this kit as intermediate rather than beginner. It's got color changes and more complex increase and decrease patterns than most beginners can handle. That being said they are really cute patterns that do come out nicely if you can manage all the necessary skills. The materials are fair quality. The yarn is a bit splitty, but nothing unusual for bargain yarn. Everything is included, except for the safety eyes. The eyes were included but there weren't any backs for the eyes. I don't know if it was a packing mistake or if they just don't have backs and they aren't actually safety eyes. (The pattern instructed for the eyes to be put in after stuffing and sewing closed, and you can't put eye backs on at that point.) So the eyes were useless, but I usually embroider eyes on anyway.I'm overall happy with the set, once taking price into consideration. These are a fraction of the cost of higher quality sets like the Woobles.I didn't watch the videos, so can't comment on the instructional quality.Edit: I bought a second set of these, and the yarn is different. The frog, penguin, owl set came with fine weight worsted style yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. The tiger, koala, pterodactyl set came with a tubular yarn, similar to Woobles yarn, and a 4.0 mm hook. The tubular yarn is easier for beginners, but I actually prefer the look of the more traditional yarn. The second set did come with safety eyes and backs, but they weren't quite large enough for the tubular yarn. After completing 5 of the 6 projects, I will say the pattern quality varies. I suspect different pattern writers for different animals. Some are easier than others technique-wise. Some are easier to read than others due to what seems like translation problems. I watched the video portion for the part I couldn't understand, and the video was excellent.

These critters will have you HOOKED
Looking for a hootin', ribbitin', and waddlin' good time? Look no further than this beginner crochet kit! Let me tell you, I embarked on this yarny adventure with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store, and boy, did it deliver!First off, let's talk about the owl. Whooo knew crocheting could be this much fun? This little feathered friend turned out so cute, I half expected it to fly off into the night, but thankfully, my stitching skills kept it grounded. The instructions were a real hoot to follow, even for someone as coordinated as a baby giraffe on roller skates.Next up, we have the frog. Crochet and amphibians may not seem like a natural pairing, but let me tell you, this little guy hopped right into my heart. Sure, there were moments when my frog looked more like a lumpy green blob, but with a little determination (and maybe a few froggy puns for motivation), I finally got him looking ribbitingly perfect. And last but not least, the penguin! I mean, who doesn't love a dapper bird in a tuxedo? Crocheting this little guy was a breeze, even if my stitches occasionally resembled spaghetti more than they did yarn. But hey, a wonky wing here and there just adds to his charm, right?Overall, this crochet kit was an absolute blast. Whether you're a seasoned stitcher or a complete newbie like me, these adorable critters will have you hooked (pun intended). Just be warned: once you start crocheting, you might find yourself surrounded by a menagerie of yarn animals, each one cuter than the last. Happy crocheting, friends!

The kit is good, but has a major flaw
So the kit overall comes as described. The videos are linked with the kit, but are confusing.I'm a beginner crocheter with 2 projects under my belt. I went with another kit that starts with W, and I absolutely loved it. However, they were expensive. So I tried this kit. I was super excited, as I can follow easy patterns already, but this yarn is TERRIBLE. It immediately splits on the hook and I struggle with the simplest of chains and stitches. I couldn't get past the second step and got frustrated. You cannot even see the Vs with this yarn. I went ahead and ordered some easy yarn separately to see if I can do these patterns. Also, the videos with the kit has a very strong accent. I didn't think it would bother me, but I'm autistic and it did. This shouldn't be a problem with everyone though. Plus, they literally talk through every stitch instead of just counting after 2 or 3 stitches. So 15 stitches would be over, under, hook, pull through, 2 yarns, over under again, 1 yarn, repeat. It made everything tedious. Just say ok, repeat this step until 10 times.Anyway, I will set this kit aside and wait until my other yarn comes in to try again. It does have some good pictures with the book. So that's a plus.

Good option for a starter kit
Overall, I liked this kit. I am a TRUE beginner— learned how to crochet watching these videos. I found the videos really helpful and easy to follow. My only issue is that the yarn is not beginner friendly. It separates easily, is difficult to count and follow stitches. I ended up buying a few things of beginner yarn (the larger 200 g kind that doesn’t separate) to practice all the patterns and that worked really great. As I get more proficient, the yarn that comes in the kit may get easier.
