This is the version to get!
I almost bought another audiobook version of this book, but thankfully a customer review alerted me to the fact that it was very Americanised - a syrupy-sentimental reading with billowing and intrusive background music.Lucky escape, that!So I thought I'd write this review to say that if you're looking for a more 'normal' reading, this is the one to buy. And in fact, it is SUPERBLY well read. David Shaw-Parker doesn't so much read as ACT the book, bringing every scene vividly to life, using a range of voices, tones and accents that mean you're never in the slightest doubt about which of the book's characters is actually speaking at the time.I can't imagine that you'll find a better audio version of this book anywhere. VERY highly recommended.

Everyone should read this book at least once in their life
Exquisitely crafted allegory of life, beautifully written, a truly inspirational and instructive book. An epic journey of the mind through the land of free will. If ever you have asked yourself the question "What the hell am I doing here and why?" John Bunyan shows you how to answer your own question. What is so unique about this piece of writing is that you know the characters, and all the locations, intimately, before you start to read it. We all do. I cannot think of another book that achieves this and makes such good use of it. Twelve and a half years of his life in gaol for preaching without a licence. Read his story and find out why the powers were so terrified of him. I promise you, you will never feel alone again.

Pilgrim's compendium
When I downloaded this book I thought I was just getting the Pilgrim's Progress but in fact I got two more books. The story of Christina, Christians wife was new to me. Written as it is in old English it was not an easy read but nevertheless was worthwhile. At the end of the book was a delightful story of a child pilgrim written in poem format which I read with my 13 yr old daughter Heather. We enjoyed it and it did a lot to explain the Pilgrim's Progress which she had done at Church.

Relevant even today
This simple narrative is a moving story of a journey from darkness and struggle into the light. Told in two parts, this book has relevance to anyone who enjoys the idea of triumph over adversity as Christian and then Christiana find their way through temptation, apathy and despair to Paradise.

A great timeless classic
Great timeless classic! This is the original version with a few words changed to modernise it a little, and some of the lengthier, more doctrinal passages omitted. It was designed for 10-11 year olds to read but the language, in my opinion, is probably still a little difficult for them to understand. There is a more modern version available which would suit them. This is great for adults!

Read the adverts properly before buying.
I didn't expect the book to be so large. It is 28 x 22 mm; maybe I missed that in the description. Neither did I realise it would be an Amazon printed book. Must have missed that as well. I suppose it will look good amongst my magazines.
