Great to give as a gift
This is the fourth in this series I have given my Son, who tells me they are all great walking guides. Well described with enough information yet compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket. Good value as well. They have introduced him to walks in areas he would not have otherwise been aware of. 5 stars.

Great little book full of excellent walks
This book is fantastic if you don't like spending too much time planning routes, you can pick any of the walks from this book and know you're in for a lovely walk. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into each of these routes. The routes are easy enough to follow, the maps alone are easy to follow and the accompanying description is clear and concise. The most recent walk I did was the Gunnerside one, and there was no phone signal at all so I would have struggled to navigate using the online tools I usually use (i.e. google maps).Rounded edges on the corners are a nice touch too which helps with this books longevity when stuffed into a rucksack filled with walking stuff.

Everything getting less well made
These books, of which we have many bought over the years, are very good. They are handy size, directions are reasonably clear and are accompanied by selection of the relevant OS maps. I find you should also have the relevant map and not rely just on the book as map excerpts are small and the highlighted routes can cover detail at times. I also find the start of routes confusing at times trying to orientated ones self to the map excerpts.Generally they have been well made and printed on robust paper although some older books have split along the bound edge making the pages fall out. This latest book is printed on thinner paper making the pages less robust. This might make the binding last longer or may lead to damaged pages, time will tell. I sometimes take a photo on my phone which helps to view detail and preserve the book, but I think it wise to always have a full sized map when out walking.

Perfect book for beginner and intermediate walkers...
As above, a perfect introductory book to walking in the Dales. This gives you detailed instructions for 28 circular walks, varying between just under 4 and just above 11 miles, perfect for walkers like ourselves, use to walking ten miles in the flatlands of East Anglia, but not quite so familiar with the Dales, and not confident enough to use OS maps on their own. Use in compliment with OL 30 and 302 - to give added reassurance as to where you going and have been - and you can't go wrong. One very minor thing, for the slightly older walker - ourselves included - add on a little time to that estimated for the walk, particularly if you stop at one of the delightful pubs often found on route!
