Amazon offers a wide variety of shim stock. You need to be very careful ordering, though. The stock is listed by thickness in fractions of an inch. I accidentally ordered 0.015 inch (instead of 0.0015 inch) and received stock 10 times the thickness (and weight) I needed. Fortunately, Amazon's great returns policy allowed me to get a refund and I was able to reorder the correct stock. (Refund is the only return option available for the shim stock. Exchange would have been preferable for me, but it is not really a big deal.)The shim stock is steel and magnetic; perfect for many PK magic effects. (The 0.002 inch stock is also good for slightly heavier objects.)This stock is printed with full tracking information on the material itself; lot number, thickness, width, material type and manufacturer's web address. Using this information you can tell different stock apart if you discard the packaging and will help the manufacturer trace a problem, if you have one.If you handle the shim stock with your bare hands, make sure you thoroughly wash your hands afterwards. There are traces of processing chemicals present that could be dangerous if ingested.

Used this to make some shims while setting up a differential. It worked great. Verified with a micrometer in multiple places it was indeed .001" and the test confirmed so.
