Super easy! It's a pod just like the regular dishwasher pods. Drop it in the slot that the regular pods go into, close it and set the cycle. I use the PowerBlast cycle which also sanitizes it. I bought my dishwasher new 2 yrs ago and it was a recommendation to do it monthly to keep it running at peak proficiency. I haven't had any problems.

Q: I've ordered this in the past and it showed the 15 or 16x on the package; however, the latest one I received just says "Platinum." Is this an error?

I just looked at my container and it says cascade platinum +16 X

Q: What happens if I do run this with dishes?

Our Cascade Platinum Dishwasher Cleaner is intended to be used on an empty machine. However, if this product has been used with dishes in the cycle, keep the dishes in dishwasher and run another cycle with normal automatic dishwashing detergent. The Cascade Team
