Protects the Varia and keeps it secure
Great way to protect an expensive piece of cycling equipment. I went for years without this case and I am glad I have it now. The Varia never fell off, I did drop it a few times and the case would have helped. I like that I can put the Varia on my bicycle and then put the bike on my rack and not worry that the Varia would fall off while I am driving.

Worth it
Much better position when using a rack with panniers. The video recording also captures more of the road behind instead of being partially blocked by the panniers. It also feels very sturdy

Pricey, but much sturdier that alternatives
Have been using a much cheaper (about $15) rail mount made out of "reinforced nylon." Worked great for about 3 years until it didn't, and the mount broke off and I had to go back and retrieve my Varia from the ground. Road bike, so wouldn't think nearly the maximum stress the part would see.Just got this as a replacement. All metal part. Three times the price, but worth it to me (assumes it holds up as well as I expect it to). Fits my bike well, just able to install it and my saddle bag without any additional parts.

Great Radar System
All of my bike upgrades, this has to be one of the top 3. Drivers seem to have forgotten that they need to share the road with cyclists. A car recently snuck up on me and only gave me maybe 2' of space, I decided right then that I was getting a radar system so I could have more traffic awareness. After about 3K miles, I have not had any cars pop up on me, I always get the alert and I love the fact that you can tell when a car is pacing or hovering. This is paired with the edge 840 and I wouldn't trade this in for anything. This goes out with me every time I hop on the bike. The price is well worth the piece of mind!

Re purpose for seat post mounting and awesome. For seat rails - too short to get past many bags
At the moment, Garmin decided we need a lever lock handle to keep the RCT715 mounted. Guess they feel the extra weight under certain circumstances can defeat the quarter turn system. So rather than keep a common solution so you can use older units with the quarter mount solution (RCT515) they expect you to ditch your old equipment or come up with a homegrown solution for either seat mount or seat post mount. Looking at seat rail mount, without a longer extension, this will not fit past most bags. If I was reviewing on this, a 1 star would be in order. But there is a silver lining here. The kit gives you a female quarter turn to go pro style friction mount as well as a lock lever mount to go pro style friction mount. Obviously they feel the go pro style friction mount is strong enough for both units in this chain. So if you, like me, have many bikes with a quarter turn female mount on your seat post, you can buy this kit and buy a separate male quarter turn to go pro mount and simply put the latter into your seat post mount and have a common interface. Good enough for Garmin on their seat rail mount so good enough for seat post mount (may run some extra electrical tape over the rubber stretch piece). Just in case, I put a loop style go pro safety wrist strap behind the lock lever and wrap it around the seat rail (similar to provided in RCT515 in case something goes wrong). No problems so far but no crazy terrain yet either. So if you want to repurpose this it is an over priced but good piece of kit

Pricey but worth it
I love my Varia radar light! I think its something that EVERY road rider ought to have! What I don't like about it is the seatpost mount, its never quite as secure as I would like it so I thought I'd try this seat rail mount instead. First off, I think its pricey however its all metal construction leaves no doubt that your radar is going to be securely attached to your bike. I feel much more confident in this! I do however find that its not that easy to mount a small saddle bag with this attached, I have one that works but I have two others that won't, its a tradeoff I'm willing to make. As mentioned, its not cheap but if you've got the radar then you really owe it to yourself to have this mount.

Great for cleaning up the look of your bike!
I always hated how the varia mount looked on my seatpost. I have tried all sorts of other cleaner 3D printed options but they never worked well. This one is rock solid and it looks very neat tucked up under my saddle! All the parts are very high quality and I haven’t had even a hint of slippage so far.I see another reviewer who returned this item because (in their defense) the description does say “for alloy rails” in the description. I have had no issues after a hundred or so miles on my carbon rails. Carbon is not as fragile as people make it out to be as long as you work within the limits of its material properties. I put some carbon grit paste on the clamping surfaces and have it torqued to ~4Nm and there is zero slippage. 4Nm is well under what my rails are rated for, my seat clamp is torqued almost twice as much, and those also bear my full body weight. I am not worried about an item as light as a varia clamped to such a low torque spec. Obviously proceed with whatever caution you wish, but I think these are fine for carbon rails!

Sturdy Mount - great value
Great mount if you need flexibility to adjust the angle of your radar/taillight. Easy to install and remove when placing your light/radar on a seat bag or rear rack.
