The Amazing Spider-Man: The Ultimate Newspaper Comics Collection Volume 1 (1977-1978) (Spider-Man Newspaper Comics) Hardcover – 16 Jun. 2015

I gather that earlier collections of the Spider-Man newspaper strips were poor quality, but as this edition is from IDW have no fears in that respect. The daily strips are in black and white and Sunday strips are in colour. Although the book dates from 1977 it harks back to the 60s when Marvel comics were in their prime. Stan Lee is now a divisive figure but he wrote snappy dialogue, and John Romita Senior is a wonderful artist - Mary Jane Watson has never looked as hot.

Seems strange to read this after 40 years, but the Lee/ Romita team remains as classic as ever

Fantastic, great memories of how I discovered Marvels best creation as a child and reproduced with great effect and verve. A must discovery for fans of Spidey and newcomers to taste the hero

Romita Art is fantastic, the stories a bit simplistic, bu this is a fantastic book and worthy of any Spiderman Fan
