Very convenient and works well.
The 7-1 Multicard Reader was easy to use. I just plugged it in and it was recognized. Any card that I put in was recognized as a hard drive and was almost immediately accessible. Works well.

Plug and Play, very easy to use
I bought this product because the card reader on my laptop, which can only read SD cards, is becoming unreliable with age and it would allow me to read many types of card through a USB port. You plug the device into a spare USB port and the computer accepts it as a new device, giving it a "safely remove" option but nothing else happens, it does not appear in My Computer as a new drive. However, once you insert a card into one of the slots a small LED comes on and My Computer displays the card as a drive with an allocated drive letter. Insert another card and that too becomes a separate drive with its own letter. The manufacturer says that cards can be "hot plugged" so they do not have their own "safely remove" options but for safely I safely removed the entire device, with cards still in it when I had finished working with them.As the cards appear as separate drives with their own letters data on them can be written to, read from or streamed just like any other drive. The device claims to handle a large number of cards, but an SD card, an SDHC card and an SDXC card are all basically the same card and not 3 different types, likewise the 3 microSD variants of these cards are also the same, the device has a socket for microSD but it is common these days to fit microSD cards in an SD card adaptor before reading it. So although it make claim to handle 10 or so different card types the device has 7 sockets which are unique to take all of them. It would handle all of my SD cards and microSD cards (in its dedicated micro slots) without any problem. This is good because all my current cameras and video devices use one or other of these types. There is also a slot for taking the Sony Memory Stick (MS) and Memory Stick Pro (MSpro). I was able to read the cards I have from a Sony camera I bought way back in 2003 no problem. However, the camera my father in law bought in 2003, a Fuji Finepix camera that takes Smartmedia cards is not compatible so it won't take every type of card. Perhaps the oldest card it can deal with is the Compact Flash (CF) card. The cards I have I used successfully with this device have had a maximum individual capacity of 64Gb so I don't know what the maximum capacity the device can handle per card is now that multi terabyte cards are available.Although it is light and made of plastic so feels and looks cheap it performs really well and represents excellent value for money.

TL; DR - Cheap but works perfectly, would buy again!
Overview:Needed a USB 3 multi card reader to replace my USB2 3.5 bay one. I do my research so this wasn't a 'this will do' buy. Didn't want anything to sit on top of my desk (this one's currently attached under my desk) and didn't want to sell my kidney to buy one. This one, albeit bit plasticy, does the job just fine and I'm getting good speeds. BONUS: can read 2x SD card at the same time! The Good:#multicard reader!#can plug multiple cars simultaneously#can read 2x SD at the same time (time saver)#great speedsThe Bad:#build quality/lighter than expected but then again, it's just over a tenner and look at all the pros!Verdict:Works. Would buy again.
