A decent little book.
Brief and concise, but an interesting read, surprisingly. Even my non-cyclist wife had a ten minute thumb through and a chat about it.Done quite a few of the harder climbs in it whilst doing very light touring, and might well use it to help plan future routes.Recommended to keen road cyclists.

100 greatest cycling climbs
This is a well thought out book although it could have gone so much further, but where do you say stop? The author himself says that it is not a definitive collection of nasty hills, as I know of, as do others, some which are worse than those included in the book. Each hill is set up for you with a location map and starts and finish points, and a wholly unrealistic time for me to beat, so that the reader can go and try the hills themselves; there is also a section for the plucky ones amongst us to record the dates that they achieved these summits. The book itself is quite compact so that it can go into your ruck/day sack so that you can get a final briefing prior to or record the date and time of your ascent.

A catalogue of pain
If, like me, you gain some sadistic pleasure from the suffering involved in hill climbs and relish the challenge of the longest, steepest gradients that you can find, then this is definitely the book for you. It's sized so that it'll fit inside a jersey pocket (just) and the layout and level of detail is spot-on, with colour photographs and maps for each climb as well as an informative description. They're also arranged by region so you can target a few in one go if you've got the legs for it! I know my county well and the surrounding counties fairly well, but even so there was the odd one that was within Sunday morning riding distance that I'd either never heard of or just overlooked, so there's a good selection in there.Once you tick off all 100 there's also the sequel to contend with!

If you like hill climbing and want a more focused set of challenges then this is for you.View it as the Mamils equivalent of an ''I Spy'' book of hills. Some of the hills you will question why they are included as they seem too ''easy'' for the top 100 climbs eg Cheddar or the Rundlestone but that isn't the point of the book as the hills are all challenging either due to their aggressive inclination or simply the length of climb but usually the hills are within fantastic locations which are great cycling regions to further explore. Buy the book and give yourself a 100 challenges.

A must have book for all the weekend warriors out there.
Perfect pocket book guide to the best cycling climbs in the UK, really glad I bought it and now planning a series of cycling adventures around the country based on the guide. I doubt I will ever be able to tick off all 100 (has anyone?) but I hope to do a few at least. The book itself is well organised, with lovely photographs of the climb so you can familiarise yourself with the route before going, detailed directions as well as a synopsis of difficulty for each hill.A must have book for all the weekend warriors out there.

The only cycle cimbs book you should own!
If you are looking for a book on great UK cycle climbs then look no further than this one! I've a couple of books of this ilk but this one is far by the best. Very comprehensive and the climbs are brilliantly described by Simon. So much so I will be looking to purchase some of Simon Warren's other books too. The climbs are well distributed around the country as not to favour one area over another and are all given a rating out of 10 and an average gradient.

Scary Uphill Stuff
Scary. I've done a few of these climbs (esp in Scotland) and (when fitter after a layoff moving house) will try a few more I think. It's always a bit frustrating as you know climbs (esp in my 'native' D&G) which you think should be in the list, but you realise there's always got to be a personal choice restraint.
