No fiddling with crossovers
Decided to hook up a Yamaha NS-SW300 sub to my Genelec near field monitors, so I asked the advice from a broadcast sound engineer on how to get the signals to the sub. Spit it with these was the answer. I have tried routing the source stereo feed tthrough the sub on other systems, allowing the subwoofer to do the filtering and I have never been happy with the result. This method is the best I've tried and I am very happy with the enhanced sound. Pretty awesome : )

Solid pieces of audio kit.
It`s not all that often that I`ve ever needed to split an RCA connection, but now that I have two separate amplifiers in my hi-fi setup, I needed to feed some sources to both amplifiers. For some sources I can use the digital outputs to the transistor amplifier and let its DACs do the decoding, but for my Lumin D2 music streamer I wanted to let its premium DACs do all the work. The other amplifier is a valve one with no digital capability. These RCA splitters are very solid, they have a good weight to them. I plugged them into the RCA sockets of the music streamer and then used RCA leads to go to both amplifiers. I would only be using one amplifier as they each drive the same speakers, via a switch-box, one or the other. There is no discernible loss of quality to my ears with these added to the analogue RCAs. Connections in and out seemed firm and positive, just plug in and forget they are there. These should also be capable of splitting a video output that used RCA plugs too, typically yellow in colour. On a technical note, these are for splitting a signal to go to two places, not for joining two sources to one amplifier, that would likely overload the input. For that purpose you would need a switch box so you can select one input at a time.

Heavy and seem good
These seem good quality but didn't work for what I wanted them for. I wanted to split 2 inputs to my amp and I now think these only work on the output.

Great quality.
Used to take two signals from a CD player, one to the HiFi and one to a headphone amp, these are really well made and beautifully finished. The split centre pin means they are a tight fit (unlike cheap plastic ones) and I cannot discern any loss of signal or sound quality.Well worth the extra pound or two.

Easy to use quality Gold Plated RCA Phono Splitter does the job its intended to do.
I used this product to split the bass sound from the sub woofer output socket at the back of my Marantz PM7000N amplifier to 2 Bowers & Wilkins sub woofers.

Perfect for splitting the subwoofer signal for left and right dual sub set up!
They are made very well. The connections are tight and split the signal perfectly.

These are not suitable for combining two signal sources.
These are perfect when used as intended. The clue is in the description. They are splitters. Do not try and combine two different sources into one input. Even if either source is switched off when not required, the output from the one you want may be affected by the unused output circuitry of the other (but It SOMETIMES works). You should use a suitable switchbox to change the inputs to an amplifier, TV etc.
