I normally have to order a 2xl in a hat because they usually fit too tight, but I would have been better off with a standard XL for this one. I would suggest NOT buying a size larger than you think.

So many negative reviews for hats at this price/quality. I read a review saying "for $60 I expected a REAL top hat!" I don't think people understand the difference between a decent quality, wool top hat ($60-80) and an actual silk/beaver fur top hat ($300-$600). For 80 bucks (or whatever the cost is when you read this) you are getting a fine quality hat similar to a Scala or the like.

I bought this for my son. We have notoriously small heads in the family, so I measured and got what was marked as s-m. It's still just a little big for him, huge on his sister, but a little padding in the band does wonders.Well packaged, well made, nicely felted and formed. My son has a 60 year old wool felted bowler, and I would put this on par with that quality. It's perfect for Steampunk, or just if you're the kind of person who wears what you like. It's not quite opera quality, imo. You almost need silk for that.I may end up buying one for myself.

This hat seems quite well made and quite sturdy. Will be wearing it on Halloween night and anxious to get out in it! Ordered 2XL first for my large head, but it was way to big--not a problem I usually have! The XL fit perfectly and it is just a beautiful hat!

I was cast in the role of "The Chairman" in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and our costumer did amazing work, creating the perfect "Victorian" look - however, we didn't have the proper hat for my character. And without fail, Amazon and this vendor came through. The hat arrived on time, in great condition and it was absolutely perfect for the role and it fit properly. I did remove the feather since it was not needed!My biggest suggestion (for anyone not used to wearing a hat) is to CAREFULLY MEASURE your hat size and when it doubt, go up to the next size since you can always add some padding. Better to be bigger than look like your head won't fit!

I put it on my hubby’s head and magic flowed in the air. He’ll look great when he gives our youngest daughter away the Née Year’s Eve. After that, I may steal it.
