If he doesn't have an amp you might want to consider one unless he doesn't go over 55 on highway. But it is a great radio. Also if he doesn't have the hand controls hooked up already have him go to best buy, they did mine for around $60. Like I said I'm very happy with it. Works great. Hope he likes it.

I don't use mine for calls, the bike is my excuse to ignore them, lol. As for the thumb controls, I could only get the volume and preset stations to cycle (not scan through the stations) (2002 ultra classic)
