Worth the money!
So worth the money! I had previously purchased a similar dual cleaning robot from another brand (same price point) and I was extremely disappointed. I thought, maybe I just had too high of expectations for a robot vacuum in the $400 price range. I decided to return the previous vac and give this one a Hail Mary last chance. I’ve had it for a week and could not be happier.-The AI in this compact robot vacuum is wonderful, it senses every obstacle (small, large, dog bowl, cords etc). Hardly bumps into anything! It mapped out my home in about 15 minutes and was highly accurate.-quiet for a vac-can choose the vac suction level and amount of water flow for mopping or you can do automatic to adjust to the level of soiling/floor type-app is great and very user friendly. I like that it shows me the exact path of where the vac went. I also like that I can pick which room/rooms I want cleaned at a certain time instead of having to select the whole house every time.-does a great job at vacuuming. I enjoy coming home and seeing the perfectly straight “lines” in the carpet-my only complaint is that the dust bin isn’t bagless. This is a super minor inconvenience.

Outstanding vacuum and customer service, highly recommend!
UPDATED:Since submitting this review, Roborock has gone up above and beyond. I completely stand corrected on their customer service and will remain brand loyal. They replaced my unit, provided a $50 credit for any inconvenience, and tracked the shipment of my new unit until it was delivered to my home. Also, the whole Q8 system is working perfectly now, including the self-emptying feature. It’s a must-have for households with animals. The set up is quick and easy and the vacuum performs incredibly. Amazing suction… my house feels so much cleaner with my Q8. Thank you so much, Roborock!Original Review:I bought this Roborock in November 2024. The self-emptying feature has worked a total of three times. I followed all the instructions Roborock sent to remediate however, the issue still persists. Roborock wants me to mail the unit back for repair, which could take roughly a week for repair alone. Super inconvenient considering the size of house, the amount of people and dogs that live in it, and that I use this machine multiple times a day. I asked for an exchange, and they weren’t open to that idea. My suggestion would be to buy a less expensive Roborock without the self-emptying feature. Other than this key issue, the vacuum itself works quite well. I scored a 3-star for two reasons: 1. Customer service response didn’t meet my expectations or solve the problem (yet) without serious inconvenience. 2. The major reason I bought this vacuum was because I have a large house with dogs. Self-emptying was a big feature I needed. Well, this unit does not actually self-empty as advertised.I’ll add, this is my third Roborock. Because of my recommendation, my mom and sister also own a Roborock. I’m a huge stickler for customer experience. If you’re building a good product, it’s not that often that customer service is needed. That said, I expected more from Roborock with a unit this new (just exchange it, refurb the other, and resell it). I’m brand loyal, but this experience will make me look at other robot vacuum brands the next time I’m in the market for one. For now, I’m going to use this one as-is without the self-emptying feature I paid a premium for.

Outstanding Performance great value
We started with the Bissell cleaner and were less than impressed with the navigational ability. The cleaning was good, but the unit couldn’t map and find its way back to the dock, hung up on obstacles, etc. The charging/battery issues caused us to return it. A second order was “lost’. After much consideration we purchased this unit and are we happy! This Roborock maps the home and can be sent out to clean different zones. It returns to docking flawlessly and self-empties the storage. To date, no hangups or issues and we continue to be impressed! We’ll worth the investment… let’s hope it’s also durable.

Smart vacuum with a dumb mop
The S8 Max+ is a mostly brilliant robotic vacuum that can quickly learn your house and automatically adapt to changing conditions. Its vacuuming ability is amazing! It is very effective at cleaning hardwood floors and carpets, as well as picking up all of our very 'sheddy' golden retriever's hair. It empties itself efficiently after cleaning and always finds its way around our house, avoiding obstacles without ever getting stuck. However, there are two weaknesses. It is a master at binding hair around the ends of the brushes. The only reason I did not give it three stars and return it is because it is easy to clean the hair out, but it cannot go more than a couple of cleanings without needing the hair cleaned out of the ends of the brushes, which is disappointing. The main reason I can only give it four stars is that when you attach the mop, it becomes a roboDUNCE and starts getting stuck everywhere. For some reason, it keeps trying to back up, which causes the mop to bind up. Where it normally maneuvers around almost everything, with the mop attached it just does ridiculous things it would normally not do. For example, it kept trying to climb up one of the legs of the chair for several minutes before finally giving up. Another time, it got stuck trying to back off the carpet for no apparent reason, whereas without the mop it would just go up on the carpet and keep going. They must have tested the mop under the most ideal conditions and not in a real house. Hopefully, this is a software bug that will eventually be fixed, but until then, the mop has been shelved.Overall, if you are looking for a great robotic vacuum at a good price (when it's on sale), and if you don't have a shed-master dog or don't mind cleaning out your dog's hair every few days, I would highly recommend it. If you need a combination vacuum and mop, this is probably not the robotic vacuum you are looking for.
