A Powerful Stimulus for Meditations on the Life of Christ
Over many years, Emmerich (1774-1824) had visions of events in the life of Jesus. Clemens Brentano left us a massive Journal of his written record of her visions as she described them to him. These do not have claim to the inerrancy of scripture. Readers must make their own decision as to the value of this material. For myself, whether true or not, these descriptions constitute a powerful source of meditations on the life of Christ. Such meditations are of immense value to the spiritual growth of any believing Christian because they inspire vivid insights that enhance their reverence. This is one of two four-volume publications based on Brentano's journals. This one is edited by James R. Wetmore. The other is edited by Very Rev. Carl E. Schmöger, C.SS.R.

Excellent text, poor quality cover
I need not comment upon the content. It is well-known (if you are reading this, I presume you are familiar with the writings of Anne Catherine Emmerich). The drawback, with an item priced as such, it appears as though there has been coffee, glue or some other material splattered on the cover. This is the case with every single edition of this series I have obtained. Rather sad, and sadly consistent.
