Cool Manners
I'm using this book with young teens who perhaps need a brush up on manners. It's funny enough not to be insulting and excellent for class or personal discussion. Take for example the 9 piece table setting, or the conflicts that arise from incorrect texting methods. Or how to write a sympathy note. Examples given. Very useful and contemporary. Apparently Ms. Rossie speaks at college campuses. I'm sure it's enlightening and entertaining.

Good information
I purchased two of these to give as high school graduation gifts. One for a niece, the other for a grandson. I "looked inside" on Amazon & thought the content would work for male or female. It dealt with modern day issues such as social media as well as traditional etiquette such as writing a proper thank you note and what to say to one who has lost a loved one. Haven't gotten feedback from either of the young people who received the books but I have high hopes that the book will be used as a guide to help with certain situations. Seems manners, social graces & common courtesy aren't t taught in today's society, so I'm glad that etiquette books are still available.

Etiqutte is a tricky business..
This is a good book.Just as is the case with other topics, you need several books on etiquetteso that they can complement each other. This book is less than 300 pages, which is simply not enough for you to learn about proper manners.I recommend Letitia Baldridge's books. If it's business manners you're looking for,get separate books on the topic, too. One book I found particularly interesting andhelpful was "The Art of The Business Lunch."

Buy this for your teenager!!
I work with teenagers and young adults in private practice, and frequently am teaching social skills as part of our work together. Many of my clients have Asperger's or other social deficits, but even kids without such challenges frequently 'don't get' how to interact with the world to its best effect. This makes working with their teachers, their employers, and their friends difficult at best.I have searched for social skills books before, and never found anything that would appeal to them -- until this book. First off, it is clear, concise, and well-written. It is visually appealing and laid out well. Secondly, it is CURRENT -- dealing with social media, and the vagaries of our digital lives. It is also current in dealing with the 'differences' of the sexes. Who opens the door first? The man or the woman? Whoever gets to the door first, of course! (No duh!)Finally, it is filled with useful information and written in a style that is not condescending or stuffy. A five star in my book, and on my book list of 'must reads' for my clients!

Wish everyone one would read this book to remind them about proper etiquette!
i purchased this book as I've been put in situations lately that require better etiquette and I wanted to be sure I was doing everything properly. This book is a great reference guide not only for everyday etiquette (table manners, how to handle someone's divorce, death, etc.) but also new questions someone might have about proper etiquette when dealing with cell phone use, text messages, etc. It also gives good advice about interviewing and business etiquette. Easy to read chapters and information.

everyday etiquitte
This is a well written and easily digested handbook on basic etiquette behavior for neophytes who don't get into these situations very often. There are sections which deal with nearly every conceivable situation you might encounter in life form the very casual to the very formal.I found it informative and funny as well. Ms. Rossi's personal anecdotes make it seem OK to be unsure what to do in some situations. This book will help you get through some of those awkward moments.-pgciboss
