This is a reprint of the 1989 edition just with bigger print and larger photos. Still worth owning although some updating would have been appreciated especially in the "Forward" and "Introduction". If you already have an earlier edition I would pass on this one.

It's almost like reading an illustrated novel disguised as a history book/encylopedia. Good to have around the family rug shop. Afghan rugs are a specific type of rug distinct from Turkish and Persian rugs. Each rug can tell a story and represent the village/area it was handmade in.
