Challenging & Kept My Son Busy For Days On 1 Model!
Our 9 yr old is very mechanically inclined and has moved past Legos. We bought this for his next challenge, and challenging it was! The instructions are pretty clear but a little above his head. He struggled with a little of the dexterity needed to piece it together as well. After about 3 days (several hours a day), he emerged victoriously from his room to announced he had completed 1 model. He joyfully played with it the next day, and that evening disassembled it to move on to his next modelling conquest. A neat toy; glad we bought it!

A lot small than thought not the same as the old erector sets.
I was a little disappointed in this set. Everything is VERY small. I was looking for something equal to the erector set I had growing up and this isn't even close. The instructions for some of the things you can build had errors. I bought this for my 8 yr old who loves to build things and as small as her fingers are she had trouble with how tight everything is to assemble. The gears don't mesh well and skip teeth. Can't really build anything other than the things in the book. That said if you keep at it you can build some cool things. Definitely teaches perseverance.

Gift
This was a gift for my 7 year old grandson. He found it challenging to put together but had it together in less than 2 hours. He loved it.

Misleading everything.
I am an engineer. When I was a kid I had a bunch of erector sets similar to this steelworks "300 piece" stuff. Basically, I have vast experience with sets like this since childhood and my cognitive and motor skills are fine so far. Now, the problems with this set start with the box. The size of it obviouly is intended to make you think the entire box is filled with 300 machine parts. Well, not exactly so. First of all, they count all nuts and bolts as parts, secondly - all of these parts are tiny and coud've easily fit in a box quarter the size with a lot of spare room left. When I first held this box in my hands I immediately thought it's suspiciously light for a decent set with with 300 pieces. And when I opened it, it looked like they forgot to put most of the pieces inside, so much empty space was in there. And now we come to the assembly. Website description says all necessary tools are included. Well, all the bolts are allen bolts here, but do you get a convenient allen hex screwdriver? Of course not. You get a tiny L-shaped allen wrench that makes the assembly excruciatingly hard, particularly given that all the parts are tiny, short bolts are shorter than they should be, and the whole experience turns into a frustrating mess. Also, the instructions. Not easy to understand, maybe would've been easier if it wasn't so tiny!I seriously don't understand this. This is not a hightech product. It doesn't have expensive parts. How hard is it to make steel parts at least 1.5 the size? How difficult is it to put actual 300 parts into a box without counting nuts and bolts? How impossible is it to print instructions you can read without a magnifying glass? What a total disappointment.
