Bought this as a gift for my girlfriend who loves PT Anderson films. The text is a little dry and is definitely more oriented as a college textbook.

An excellent introduction........
An excellent introduction to the films of PT Anderson. Mr Sperb captures the majority of the themes in Anderson's work and establishes how these evolve between the films. Mr Sperb is certainly no sychophant in his description of Anderson or his work, indeed Mr Sperb may even be a little harsh in his critical assessment of some of the films. However he clearly outlines the reasons why he feels that certain films are less succesful than others. I felt that a little of political subtext in Anderson's films may have remained unexplored but other than that a very comprehensive and readable book.
