Q: where is the chess set made?

Made in China, cheap stuff, not weighted, cheap wood, beginner stuff, not good for tournaments. Its a whole market of the same pieces everywhere selling by different names. If you want a good chess set, get a USCF standard weighted plastic set, although depending on weight it might be more expensive but still cheap. Now if you really want a wood set, and are willing to spend some bigger like 60$, get a Wegiel set they sell here on amazon. And if you want beyond 60 to the 100 luxury sets go to these websites, House of Staunton, The Chess Store, Chessbazzar, Chess House, and many more.
