WEST-B Secrets Study Guide: WEST-B Exam Review for the Washington Educator Skills Test-Basic

I just received my book. The break down of the books along with page breaks for video instruction is great!

I bought this guide to help me pass the WEST B on my first try. It served it's purpose but I have a couple of comments. The math section was great and prepared me well but it does go a little above and beyond what you can expect on the test. I stopped reading it when it went into the more complicated algebra. The writing practice test in this guide was completely a different format than what I encountered on the actual test. So that threw me a little bit when I sat down to take the test and the format was not what I expected it to me. Nevertheless, I passed the writing handily as I think the study guide has enough in that section to help me brush up on my knowledge.Here are some tips for the test:-you can do it! It's not as bad as I expected.-log on to youtube and take the practice tests they have there.-keep in mind that, on the math portion of the test, they are testing your knowledge of basic concepts. The numbers on the test are nice and simple, nothing complicated.

Initially I started out reading it cover to cover, but then got bored as it was reviewing things I already knew fairly well. So instead I took the practice tests, discovered what I didn't know, and then spent the better part of a night working through questions that either stumped me, or that I'd gotten wrong despite a high degree of confidence.The book is full of the "why" behind most of these questions. A few times I had to slip online for a few more samples of a math problem to better understand how it was supposed to work, but that is more of a sign of how long it has been since I took a math class than anything else.The practice exams represent a good selection of the sort of questions you will answer on the WEST-B. The book by design over-represented the harder questions. To that end I can say if you did well on the practice questions, you should be just fine on the actual test.

I like how it explains the problems thoroughly, I would love to have, in the videos some problem examples where we can do or on the book examples we can do ourselves and have a video show us how the problem is worked out correctly. I thank everyone for putting the time and making this book for all of us out here. I understand its not easy to do. I am not good at math and I need all the help I can get. I am a very visual person. The videos and step by step problems help.

Tons of information, but the presentation is too dense to make it a useful study guide, especially if you need something to serve as more of a refresher than a teach-me-something-new tool. I also think that the material covered goes well beyond the scope of the West-B exam. In terms of a study-guide for this sepecific exam, I found the online guide through Longsdale to be much more helpful (and at a much more reasonable price), and I supplemented that with a few SAT reading comp prep books. (And I passed all three sections in my first attempt, all done at once). However, I will keep this because it truly does have a lot of valuable information that I may return to as I prep for endorsement exams.

I love the thoroughness and well thought out explanations this review offers. It has both test content and excellent test taking tips. This was purchased for my wife. She has taken similar exams overseas as a teacher and rarely were the review material as well prepared. If you just need a quick review, this is probably more detailed than you may want. But if you want a serious review that will talk to you not only about the questions you'll face but why the answer is the best one compared to other choices, this book shines.

This book was recommend by one of my friend as a study material for Westb. It was a good reccomendation indeed. I am very happy with the content. I would recommend adding practice question for each examples mentioned and more full length practice tests.

I'm excited to start using this book as one of my study guides. The book as A LOT of information and looks very wordy. They have a good amount of test questions for each section that is covered in the west b exam! good luck everyone.
