These stones have equal and symmetrical faceting with proper cutting angles ("critical angle') and depth. Depth is between 60% and 70% of size listed. Size can vary +-0.1mm. 2-3mm (millimeter) gems are very small - less than 1/8 inch. AAA = eye clean, any inclusions will not be visible to the eye. We carefully select the rough to represent accurately its natural counterpart. These gems are created by the Flame Fusion process and have essentially the same physical properties as natural Sapphire. Fine blue is more difficult to cut due to the inherent color zoning properties of the rough. Blue Sapphire is the September and Taurus birthstone. Our gems are calibrated for easy design for the artist and use in standard settings by the jeweler, goldsmith or silversmith.
