Through the Year with Pope Francis: Daily Reflections

A great help in supporting an encounter with Christ
This book of reflections has a passage from the writings/talks of Pope Francis for each day of the year and questions for prayer/meditation based on the reflection. The daily reflections/questions encourage and support a personal response and are intended to help people be more open the work of God in their lives.Using this book every day, or at least several times a week, along with a short time of silent prayer will likely lead a person to grow closer to Christ and to experience his life and love more deeply in their life. The reflections (along with a time of prayerful thought on them) help me to encounter Christ and grow more faithful as a Christian. This is turn has supported my desire and ability to share the good news with others in a way that flows from normal encounters in my life. This book of reflections is compiled by a member of FOCUS, a national ministry that is very successful in bringing college-aged people into a closer relationship with Christ. Thus, there is a practical experience in the choice of the reflections and questions that brings them to the heart of the passage and to the heart of the individual.

Short, simple, yet very profound.
These very short meditations are filled with an earthy wisdom that can only come from a man whoIs very close to God. The Father, the Son and the Spirit. Don,t let the shortness of these simplesharings fool you. He has a way of expressing great truths in just a few words. He has given memuch to meditate on and share with others. I have recommended this book to everyone in myCircle of friends.

Most Inspiring!
The book has short devotions followed by thoughts to ponder. I've read it for a week and love it! The book is a great addition to my devotional time.

Enjoy!
A thought provoking and positive reflection to begin each day. Passages are short enough to be revisited several times a day, and each day's reflection takes the reader on their own personal encounter with faith. The reflections are clearly presented and often challenge the reader to look within. The accompanying questions are somewhat helpful, but the real treasures are the words and thoughts of Pope Francis. Enjoy!

Very inspirational.
These daily devotions do make you 'think' about the various spiritual subjects addressed. I find them very inspirational. It also allows you to see the spiritual heart of Pope Francis. I am glad I purchased it. All pros. (The only con I see is its binding. I handle it with 'kid gloves' so to speak but it is still breaking apart. But don't let that stop you from buying it.) His insights are truly jewels. I would recommend this daily devotional to everyone.

I bought this book in mid-August 2014 and like it so much that I bought three more copies to give away as Christmas presents. If you read the book in a year (or less), you'll have a solid foundation in the thought, writing and speaking of Papa Francis. The subjects are wide-ranging, though I would describe the most common theme as the desire Jesus has for sinners to come back to Him and His Great Merciful Heart:"Jesus does not exclude anyone. Some of you, perhaps, might say to me: 'But, Father, I am certainly excluded because I am a great sinner: I have done terrible things; I have done lots of them in my life.' No, you are not excluded! Precisely for this reason, you are the favorite, because Jesus prefers sinners, always, in order to forgive them, to love them. Jesus is waiting for you to embrace you, to pardon you. Do not be afraid: he is waiting for you. ... For God, we are not numbers, we are important, indeed we are the most important thing to him; even if we are sinners, we are what is closest to his heart. ... If we - all of us - accept the Grace of Jesus Christ, he changes our heart and from sinners makes us saints. ... Jesus is all mercy, Jesus is all love ... he is The Lord of tenderness." (PP. 268, 315, 316, 343, 328.)The Holy Father can also be very entertaining and even surprising:"I feel like Tarzan and I feel strong" (P. 339)"But please: never any sisters, never any priests with faces like 'chilis pickled in vinegar' - never!" (P. 300)

Definitely a B.O.G.O. (Buy one & get one)
I had purchased this as a gift for a friend of mine that was interested in Pope Francis... thought this would be an easy, accessible way for him to start reading some of Francis thoughts. Just reading through it though, I decided I wanted a copy as well, so I just came back here to order a second copy.Really well put together. Nice short reflections that probably take a couple of minutes to read but say a lot. I'm looking forward to it being a part of my daily routine.

Great introduction to the thought of Pope Francis
Great book to introduce you to the thought and vision of Pope Francis. The readings are short - usually just a paragraph. Each day also includes short meditations from the author/editor - great for beginners in prayer or for those who want to go deeper. I bought this for my family to read each evening together during our prayer as a family and look forward to being challenged by this pope to grow deeper in my relationship with God and more selfless in my service to others.

worth a look
bought this book for my kindle, so easy to dip in and out of, being short sections from Pope Francis' addresses followed by a short reflection from Kevin Cotter. This Pope is a wonderful communicator and his writings are proving to be very popular. For anyone wanting to build up their spiritual life--or for those who've stayed away from church for their own reasons.
