but is my least favorite tuner of all i've tried
does work, but is my least favorite tuner of all i've tried. the clamp is quite large, allowing it fit the thick headstock of my classical - but the spring tension is too low, so a bit of guitar movement causes the tuner to shift. definitely not as accurate/sensitive as my other tuners; i'm unsure if this is because of lack of spring tension or the addition of a microphone for tuning purposes or something else entirely.

NITTY-GRITTY TUNER PARTICULARS for the OBSESSIVE
This is the third time I've purchased this identical model tuner -- though always from different vendors and always branded with different names -- and this is definitely the lowest price I've paid for it. Here's a bit about it:This model (regardless how it's badged) packs the best bang for the buck of the numerous tuners I've owned or used. It's quick, accurate, easy, (fairly) compact, and durable. Its front panel has a vaguely rubbery, tactile coating to it, helping to keep you holding it and preventing your fumbling it into a dark corner of your studio/stage/squalourous hovel/homeless shelter/Occupy protest encampment/New York City subway. The same tuner is also available in white, elsewhere on Amazon. The body seems (no promises, here...) to be of a material we called "acetal" when I was in the widget manufacturing business. That's the same plastic resin most good plastic buckles are made of for sporting equipment and backpacks. It can be dropped repeatedly without damage but I wouldn't want to plant a Doc Martin on it during a set or have Luciano Pavarotti sit on it or anything. The display swivels to any conceivably useful angle but the device doesn't fold very flat. That's kind of a pity, but no big deal. The head is NOT readily detachable. The CR-2032 battery doesn't like to sit nicely whilst waiting for you to secure its battery compartment cover. The battery can take a little convincing to nest into its contacts but, even after three-to-four years of (admittedly infrequent) use, I've not yet replaced one of these batteries. The clamp fits well over a fairly thick guitar headstock, although it's pushed to its limit to clamp on the scroll of a fiddle. Some of the "mini clamp-on tuners" I've seen do not open their jaws wide enough to accommodate some instruments, so I'm quite satisfied with the grip of this one. (Fiddles can be a bitch. Violin players: You might want to opt for one of the tuners that come with a clip specifically designed to fit onto your scroll.) This one can also be used to clip your sheet music to the stand.Easy on/easy off. The rubber contact pads on the jaws are fairly firm and leave no residue, even after several hours, even after three or four years of use. (That is to say, the rubber of the pads does not seem to contain excessive placticiser/softener and so the pads show no inclination to break down into goo.)The display is both majorly bright and immediately informative. The display changes to a brilliant green, fully-lit screen when you're on the correct pitch; otherwise, it displays a red needle and red characters against a black background. It turns on in its CLIP setting. Another push of the same button puts you in MIC, then turns it off. The pitch can be standardised to a modern 440 Hz or dialed up or down to accommodate your medieval or squeeky or Sinatraesque or "Continental" desires from 435-to-445 Hz in whole-Hertz increments. (Sorry, 432 Hz fans!) It has a choice of four modes, for (G)uitar, (V)iolin, (C)hromatic, or (B) if you wish to tuna fish. It's stupid simple to use.The tuner differentiates well between the fundamental pitch you're aiming for and the harmonics of other notes, so it doesn't tend to jump all over the place as you approach your target. All clip-on tuners tend to jump a bit in that manner but this one is less erratic than many others I've tried. The ACCURACY of the device is stated to be within less-than-or-equal-to one cent. (Meaning: It's supposedly "telling the truth" about the pitch it's measuring.) The PRECISION of the display, however, only indicates the measured note within a range of FIVE cents. In other words, from-left-to-right across the screen there are ten possible needle positions from -50 cents to just slightly flat, then one needle position indicating your instrument is in-tune, and then ten more possible needle positions from just slightly sharp to +50 cents. That means each shift of the LCD needle indicates a change of five cents, so when the device says you're in-tune, it's really only telling you you're "in-tune give-or-take 2-1/2 cents". IF YOU NEED A MORE PRECISE DISPLAY (f'rinstance, if you want to be James Taylor and tune your strings flattened -3 cents, -6 cents, -4 cents, -8 cents, -10 cents, and -12 cents -- or whatever!) you'll need to find yourself a more precise tuner displaying a finer degree of indication. Since on this tuner the basic, A440 pitch standard can be changed only in whole Hertz increments, and since 1 Hz = a smidgen more than 4 cents on the A-string, pitch shifting is not really an option for Mr. Taylor unless he combines multiple needle positions with pitch shiftings and then he'd have to be the type who uses burst frequency offsets to find missing airplanes. But this tuner is only five and a half bucks and pretty awesome, so c'mon, already. The shipper is almost strangely eager for positive feedback. Since I like the device a lot, I don't find that to be a problem.DON'T EVER lend your tuner to some deadbeat who'll lose it and refuse to reimburse you even the 5-1/2 bucks to replace it. Get a better class of friends.Don't covet or fetishise your gear. Play it.

I was disappointed. E
I was disappointed. E, A ,and D responses were good. G response was not, in fact it showed "sharp" even when the string was so loose, it could have fallen off. I returned the tuner to Amazon.

Like that it has the mic function also
Works well. Controls are intuitive. Agrees with my other tuners. Display is bright enough. Like that it has the mic function also. Why it did not get five stars. It is difficult to install the battery, lay it in there just right. balance just right, gingerly put the cover on, and push and twist just right - yes it was a little frustrating. The SIZE, the clip is approx. three times the size as on my other (multiple manufacturers) units - the display itself is about the same size as other, but the housing is larger. Still a good purchase.

Solid Tuner For Dirt Cheap
I just bought a cheap little nylon string and wanted a tuner I could keep together with it and found this a couple of months after I got me a Snark. This thing is dirt cheap, though I expect the price to go up as more and more people find out about and purchase it. Maybe the price I got it at was just an introductory deal to help spread the word. The nylon doesn't vibrate nearly as much as any of my other guitars and the neck is pretty thick yet it still was able to pick up and identify the out of tune strings quickly. The microphone feature is a nice added bonus which I don't even think the Snark has.The Snark is a bit more bendable with the head but you shouldn't have any issues finding a nice position with this. This is a bit thicker than the Snark, as well, and bulkier at that, and not quite as pretty as the Snark, but for the price you can't complain. It gets the job done and then some. Very impressed they're able to let it go for just a few bucks but we will indeed see if the price climbs in the coming months. I figure I'll grab a few more of these for early stocking stuffers for all of my musician friends.

Three Stars
Ok but too bulky.

Good tuner, difficult to install battery
I use this tuner on my upright bass. The other tuners I've had rattle annoyingly bc of the vibrations a bass generates. This one doesn't, which I love. It's large, but so is my instrument. It's very visible, easy to turn on and off, and seems accurate. My only complaint is that the battery is very difficult to install.

Good tuner but no 430Hz
It is a good, easy to read tuner that seems to be very accurate and at a very good price. Would have given 5 stars if it tuned at 430 Hz but it only goes to 435. If you only tune to 440 Hz (orchestra pitch) it is a great tuner. If you tune down to 430Hz find a different one.
