... - it's the 60's all over again (in a good way).
Stan Lee and John Romita - it's the 60's all over again (when Marvel was at it's height). In 1977 Lee and Romita both proved they still "had it". Due to the nature of the medium, the newspaper strips are not as nuanced as the comics (subplots aren't there) and the supporting characters are given minimum time. However the entire cast is still there (JJJ, Robertson, Aunt May, Mary Jane, Flash Thompson & Harry Osborn) and Lee proved he could still spin a yarn. Most of the stories unfold in about 2 months worth of strips. Surprisingly the best story doesn't involve a super villain but rather an ordinary citizen of New York who is black mailing Peter Parker with a threat to expose his secret identity. For all his power Spider-Man is helpless against mere information - it's a page turner. It might just be my fading old eyesight, but I do believe the reprint size is slightly reduced from the actual newspaper edition size of 38 years ago, but not so small as to be a distraction.Pros: Silver Age Marvel Magic (from the Bronze Age) & color Sundays.Cons: Stories are slightly more "streamlined" than the comics.

Fun Collection of Daily Strips
This is fun. The newspaper strip has always had a different storyline and feel than the comic book story arcs. Not better, not worse, just different. It's also fascinating to see the story told, from day to day, in such short chunks.

Don't Miss This One!
Awesome! Brings back a lot of childhood memories from the 1970s...art by John Romita, THE DEFINITIVE Spider artist, is awesome! A real treat for fans who remember the halcyon days of comics!

Awesome book
Great to see the old comic strips collected so you can read one a day like when you would read them in the newspaper or you can read a bunch in one sitting

Great for Spider-Man Fans
My Nephew loved it! It was worth every penny as it was durable and well made. Only reason why I didn't give it a perfect 5 is because now he is asking for the next edition and I can't find it anywhere! Christmas is coming so hopefully it will be released by then.

Must have for any Spider-man comic fan
I've got an impressive collection of Amazing Spier-man comics, on my MUST have Amazing Spider-man books are the newspaper strips that I read in the late 70s. These newspaper strip are one of the best reads in the Amazing Spider-man stories written by Stan Lee and my fave Spider-man artist John Romita. Must have if you're a Spider-man fan.

A classy book
I gather that earlier collections of the Spider-Man newspaper strips were poor quality, but as this edition is from IDW have no fears in that respect. The daily strips are in black and white and Sunday strips are in colour. Although the book dates from 1977 it harks back to the 60s when Marvel comics were in their prime. Stan Lee is now a divisive figure but he wrote snappy dialogue, and John Romita Senior is a wonderful artist - Mary Jane Watson has never looked as hot.
