It's old and the photos are a little grainy. But, I like it. It will give you many ideas on how to convert your bus.

Classic not Outdated
Great guide for anyone wanting to get into building their own RV on a School bus chassis. Yes this book has been out a while, but it is not outdated. Provides all the general RV info along with many sources of inspiration and ideas.Well worth the money, sorry I delayed buying it.

Basic
I bought this book with some prior knowledge and already owning a school bus. Books like this are often times very basic, as the author needs to get preliminary ideas and concepts down for the reader first. I was disappointed that the author took it no farther than the basics in most of his writing. I found a lot of both the broad and specific information to be obvious, but for some people it may provide great insight. For those of you who have no idea about where to start in building a bus into a home, then this book is for you. But if you have no idea on where to start, then you probably don't have the skills necessary or the creativity it requires to build a bus. The author even says that you need to be handy in order to do all this. This means that this book is somewhat of a problematic thing because you have to have skills and creativity to undertake such a project as the author says, but if you have those skills and creativity, then you probably don't need this book because you already know where to start on building a bus and are capable of understanding the basic ideas of how to convert a bus.Granted, the good things that this book has to offer are:- how to raise the roof of a bus- cool pictures of already converted buses- how to diagram the cross section of your bus for building cabinetry- some mistakes made on previous bus conversions, and how to avoid/overcome themBottom Line: It's worth the money for a beginner, but as a beginner you should be acquiring more in depth knowledge about carpentry, metal-working, electronics/wiring, appliances, propane, auto mechanics, etc. This book will help tie these things together in a basic way for wanderlusting bus-builders.

A wonderful book for getting started.
This book is exactly what you need if you are trying to decide if you are up to task of converting a school bus to live in. Just enough info to help you decide yes or no. It is not too technical. I don't think that's the purpose. I is a great starting point.

Better books available
I ordered the book to get an overview of bus conversions and any nuances that converting one yourself has. This book has very basic info on the process. The section on raising the roof was probably the most informative of any of the chapters. Very poor illustrations (sketches) and picture quality. Half the book is filled up with pics of converted skoolies, most being hippy looking, half a%# jobs that would not be allowed in any campground. If you want a more informative book look for something by Dave Galey, although some of his are geared towards the touring buses, not skoolies. The concepts are the same and he has better details though.

Not worth the price
This book does not provide you with enough info to be successful. Better to watch you tube videos.
