cree CXB (CXB3590-3500K)

I started with 400 watt Metal Halide bulbs and the 240v transformer to drive them. With it you have to deal with electrical distribution and a 240v timer/controller. The 400 watt bulb was HOT and radiated huge amounts of heat! Couldn't get the bulb close for fear of dehydrating and burning the plant. Plus the constant fear of bulb explosion (burning the place down). Not any more. This LED is 120v and cool as a cucumber. The plants love this light, first day they perked up. The quality of components is very high which should translate to ultra low maintenance. LEDs all the way baby!!

Same plants with 3 weeks under 2 of these lights. This light works exceptionally well. It is very bright and as soon as I got it over my plants they perked right up. I’m a firm believer in the Cree CXB3590. It’s not a cheap o light. Good warranty, well built, and no problems with it.

It works. But when put up next to it’s name brand competitor that costs around the same price, the difference is shocking. Bought these because the shipping was faster, I’d suggest waiting the extra couple days for the name brand item. They seem to grow equally well, but the lens is obviously cheap glass and it runs 10-20 degrees hotter(~140F at the heatsink with a 68F ambient temperature)
