Great Book for Bass Players!!
I love this book! It covers everything you need to know about bass in a format that is step by step and easy to understand. The theory applies to all of western music

All Bass players should own this book
This is one of the best bass learning book I have ever read. It explains things from a simple point of view for a person like me who is self taught. I really like the section about how to set up the bass amplifier. I have been searching for this information for quite sometime. Not even the manual that comes with an amplifier gives any of the information about how to setup an amplifier or its limitations. I recommend any new or aspiring bass player purchase this book, it's well worth it.

single best instruction book ever
As a beginner bass player, I found a lot of new ideas here. If I had to choose a single book to learn bass guitar, it would be this one. The breadth and depth of ideas is tremendous. Arranged alphabetically, the book has dozens of very valuable lessons. Also mini-articles on interesting topics.

Buy It if You Already Play Bass
Probably would not have purchased if I had not seen a copy at my public library. The content is consistent with the title. By itself, not an adequate instruction book for bass players....but rather, an informative mix of many topics relevant to musicians with a basic (or higher) understanding of how to play bass guitar. Good addition to my music library.

Very well organized and written.
I use this book every day. The author obviously plays bass very well. His style is very good and I use his guidelines and tips a lot. Some ideas he has I would have never thought of.

A very helpful set of tips for the serious bassist.
The advice on playing is invaluable. I particularly found his advice on how to get the best tone out of the Fender Jazz bass very helpful.

Enjoyable, valuable, easy to read
I own about a dozen instructional books on bass. This is the only one I read cover-to-cover (twice). All by itself, this book is an easy and informative read. Really enjoyable. This book is also a great supplement to other books. For example, I am studying with "Simplified Sight Reading for Bass" by des Pres, and "Ear Training" by Wyatt, both very good books. "Stuff" has sections on both subjects, and provides a page or two of valuable insights into these (and other) topics that really add to the other books.

Culture générale basse
Beaucoup de conseil sur la basse en général, ce n'est pas une méthode mais bien à lire. pour les anglophones of course.
