These seem identical to the Stoics in EVERY way, except that they're sized larger so I was able to wear a smaller size
OK, I'm having a VERY hard time believing that these are not the exact same as the Stoic Merino line that has been discontinued by Backcountry dot com. I had contacted them to see if they were ever going to carry that line again and the associate said no, but that they'd come out with a new line of gear clothing with a similar name to the Ridge Merino, it was Ridge something or other. He said that new line wasn't merino though, so I just started looking elsewhere for merino boyshorts. I stumbled upon these and my pair just arrived. I compared them side by side with my Stoic boyshorts, and they are IDENTICAL. Down to the stitching, the width of the waistband, the side seams and crotch seams, the length of the legs and the height of the waist.I mean IDENTICAL.Even the main complaint in the reviews being that the major bother is that the waist elastic twists, which is exactly the same as with the Stoics. The only difference is that based on the sizing chart I ordered the size small in these, whereas in the Stoics I would order medium. I put my new smalls up to my Stoic merino Mediums, and held them up, and there really is absolutely not one thing that distinguishes them from one another. So, of course I have no idea if I'm right or wrong, but if you loved Stoic boyshorts and you're looking to replace them, then these very possibly could be your perfect replacement. Just know that it looks like they're sized larger, because usually I would wear Medium in undies (125 pounds, 5'5" but with very curvy hips much larger than waist and pretty small thighs) and in this brand the S fits perfect.I'm going to just go ahead and do what I always meant to do with my Stoics, which is to just put little hand stitches in a few locations of the elastic waist right when they arrive, so that they never get the opportunity to twist. In underwear this expensive, we shouldn't have to do this, but so be it, it is what it is. Because of this problem with the elastic, I'm taking off a star, but otherwise I'm rating these exactly as I would the Stoics, and assuming they're going to fit, wear, and feel exactly the same. If this changes I'll come back and change my review, but for now I'm saying these are the most insanely comfortable boyshort undies i can imagine wearing. Not scratchy at all, they feel like a soft cloud hugging your bum when you hike, they're toasty in cold weather and breathable in hot. I love riding my bike to work in these esp if I have a skirt on, because if the skirt rides up no biggie, just looks like I have exercise shorts on. But they wick fabulously, and hold up to many days backpacking without getting The Stinkies. They are somewhat thick so expecting to hand wash and dry overnight is not reasonable, like it would be with synthetic wicking undies. So if you need to handwash overnight, bring two pair so you always have one dry.

Really Tiny Inseam
I am 4'10" and 106 lbs. I ordered the xs and small. While I liked the overall snug feeling of the xs the length is just too short particularly in the back, so I kept the smalls. I really want to love these and they are the best I have found in terms of wool women's boxers to date, but I have one major complaint! Why on earth is the in seam so tiny?! I am ordering boxers BECAUSE I want underwear that covers my butt AND a portion of my legs. Even with the size small, throughout the day, the back which barely covers my butt to begin with rides up and gets saggy as the leg fabric stretches a bit leaving the bottom part of my butt cheeks exposed.Ridge Merino, your product would be perfect if you made the inseam longer and you cut the fabric so that there is more length in the back. Women typically have a rounder shape and hence need more material to cover the rear portions.

Order small, good for backpacking
These are some of the better wool underwear I've tried. The reviews are 100% correct - order small because these run large. I'm 5'5", ~145lbs, 30d, got a big butt and small waist, athletic build. I usually wear a medium in undies and a US 6 in pants. The small fits me great. No wedgies or riding up when I do outdoor activities: strenuous hiking, snowboarding, cycling, etc. The waist fits snugly but I don't find it constricting. They dry out faster than other active undies I've tried (I'm looking at you 2016 Ibex boyshorts & Patagonia mesh hipster undies). They don't feel as high quality as other brands that I've tried (Ibex, Patagonia) so I'm not sure how long they will last during the summer hiking/backpacking season but better quality than ExOfficio, and they fit better around my waist/butt than ExOfficio. I'll be buying more if they go back to $25 or under, as I feel like that's a fair price.

If they’re like the men’s, A+
Thought these were men’s, but I was able to gift them. Winner!I was preparing for a total knee replacement, and anticipating a few weeks of down time earlier this month when I decided to take a chance with several highly recommended Merino Wool products. My surgeon’s office and other online resources specifically suggested this material. I shopped around locally and online, and I think I found some great products here.I live in Wisconsin, so it’s cool here in December. Living here for most of my life, I already have plenty of warm weather gear, but most would be far too warm for the indoor use I intended during recovery. I tend to be warm, but my feet get cold, and I wanted to find something that would be warm but not hot, breathable, and soft, and Merino Wool continued to come up as I searched. I’m blessed with the means to afford to try-out new things, and amazon’s wardrobe program really made this easy. The primary reason for my review was to share the things I learned about this product in practical application. Merino Wool is very comfortable to the touch. It’s not smooth like a silk, but it’s soft, thicker, and far from scratchy. The amazing thing to me is how comfortable it is, no matter the environment. It’s warm enough to wear around the house alone, and terrific under a boot while outdoors. Most “thermal” undergarments I’ve owned are nice while outdoors, but too warm for indoor wear. Many expensive materials promote their warmth, breathability and moisture-wicking properties, but I often feel too warm, and then damp after a short time indoors. Merino wool, no matter how thick seems to adjust to a normal, and comfortable body temp, indoors or out. Unlike cotton, it also stays dry under clothing, and in boots or slippers.Merino Wool blends that exceed 65% seem to be perfect for daily wear and lounging indoors, and most who wear them say that they’re an excellent choice for hiking, climbing, or other outdoor activities. I shopped around locally and online, and Amazon’s pricing is competitive, their convenience #1.After my original undergarment purchase, I came back to purchase many more undergarments, pants and shirts. That’s probably the best indicator of satisfaction, and it’s prevalent among those who’ve purchased Merino Wool.My favorite socks for lounging indoors are below. Really comfortable, A+!Airka4.7 out of 5 stars 8 Reviews2 Pairs Merino Wool Men's Hiking Socks - Half Full Thickness For Trekking Mountaineering (Grey+Green)
