Stampede 2051-2 Vigilante Premium Hood Protector for GMC (Smoke)

I wanted something to protect the leading edge of my hood because within 6 months of purchase it developed deep pitting from bugs and small debris. Clear film was almost $100 and the brands other than Stampede seemed to just stick to the painted hood. The Stampede seemed the logical choice as it does not lye on the painted hood, stands clear about 1 inch of the painted surface and still is shaped to follow the curves and dips. I was able to install by myself in 15 min but a 2nd set of hands would have helped. Be warned that on the 2018 GMC, two metal clips do go over the very edge of the hood about a 1/4 inch only. They provide clear film to protect the paint under the clips. I do not see any potential for damage if the film is used. The shields center section uses about 2 feet of 3M tape to stick to the painted edge of the hood. So if using metal clips and 3M tape on your painted hood edge scares you...Dont get this product. That being said, it fits great, is secure, zero wind noise (tested to 85 mph) and does not shake. Looks good, does not stand out as a add on. And should provide hood protection. I do not know if bugs will be deflected from the windshield as I write this on day one. Water can drain off the hood though a center opening (not visible from normal angles) and each end. So far I am pleased with the product.

The truck looks great, a nice fit and easy to install.

Not as seamless as I would have liked. Fits nice and square. There may be some longevity issues. But for now, it's on and hasn't blown/fell off yet. It does add some nice style to the front profile.
