Tools of the Ancient Romans: A Kid's Guide to the History & Science of Life in Ancient Rome

I bought this for one of my upper elementary students (5th grade) who wanted to learn about Roman history on his own, and I'm really pleased. Unlike most history books--even history books meant for children--that bog down in endless detail such that the child loses sight of the story, this includes thoughtfully selected detail but (mostly) keeps the broader narrative within grasp.The layout of the book is appealing and the writing and illustrations are engaging.There are both reading questions and worthwhile hands-on activities in each chapter.Could be used for guided study, lesson-planning, or self-study (by children or by adults who want more of a quick overview than books for adults typically offer). Probably about a 4th grade reading level.

I like this book. We plan to use it in our homeschool in the future. I'm sure we will get much use out of it. I recommend this book to others as an introduction to the Ancient Romans.

Great. Easy for children to start on the history of ancient romans.

Please be advised that the print is all black-and-white and not two-coloured as in the "Look Inside" preview, in the the paperback version which is the only print version available at this time. It looks a bit like one of those illegal reprints (though surely it isn't). There's a Kindle version that may be bi-color. A bit disappointed as I was looking forward to the contents.

My daughter and I enjoyed using these books (also purchased the one on Greece). The activities were useful and relevant to our study, and the information was well-written. Highly recommend.

The Greek-Roman civilization set the foundations for Western civilization, and it was their discoveries that set things in motion. Great way for kids to learn
